Every year from October to March of the following year, the cold air mass in winter moves south along the Central Mountains. When it blows to the Hengchun Peninsula, the wind suddenly increases due to passing through the Shimen Valley, Dawu Valley, and Manzhou Township Mountain Valley. In addition, the peninsula's terrain is steep. As it descends, facing the vast sea, strong winds form a direct blow, which local residents call "downhill wind".
