Introduction to the Great Kilt: The Great Kilt, also known as the Grand Guild Hall, was built by wealthy German merchants in the 14th century. The guilds continued to use the Gothic meeting hall in the following centuries. In the mid-19th century, a neo-Gothic building was built on the basis of the old building, known as the "Large Guild House", which is now the performance hall of the Latvian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
