Introduction to the Cathedral on Spilled Blood: The Cathedral on Spilled Blood (Спас на Крови) is also known as the Church of the Resurrection. The Cathedral on Spilled Blood was built from 1883 to 1907. It is a rare pure Russian-style building in the St. Petersburg area. It was built in March 1881. Emperor Alexander II was assassinated here on January 1, so the church was named the Church of Spilled Blood. The Cathedral on Spilled Blood has a beautiful outline, colorful decorations, inlaid with complex and brightly colored image patterns, and is decorated with rich colorful patterned tiles and enamel bronze plates. There is also a colorful onion head standing on the top of the church. In sharp contrast to the old Russian style and the nearby classical buildings, it reflects the typical Russian Orthodox church architectural style of the 16th and 17th centuries.
