Laoletang introduction: is the largest palace in Unhyeon Palace and is also the center of Unhyeon Palace. Various family events such as sixtieth birthdays are held here. The beautiful window pane patterns are still preserved. The eaves of this palace are engraved with dragon patterns, symbolizing majesty and authority. It was here that Emperor Gaozong and Queen Mingcheng got married in 1866, and it was also here that Queen Mingcheng received education as a princess. When it was most prosperous, there were four palace gates, including the main gate, the back gate, the Jingqin Gate, and the Gongqin Gate, but now only one back gate remains. Gongqin Gate was the gate used exclusively by King Daewon when he entered the palace, and Jingqin Gate was used exclusively by King Gojong when he entered and exited the palace. However, both gates no longer exist, but their foundations remain next to the Japan Cultural Center.
