Introduction to the Temple of Artemis: Artemis is the goddess of hunting, the moon god in ancient Greek mythology, one of the main gods of Olympus, and is also regarded as the protector of wild beasts. The temple was built in 550 BC on the original site of the present-day Greek city-state of Ephesos, which is now the west coast of Türkiye. The temple building is based on marble and covered with a wooden roof. The designers of the entire building are Chersiphron and his sons. Its biggest feature is that there are two rows of at least 106 columns inside, each about 40 to 60 feet high. The base of the temple is approximately 200 by 400 feet. Late at night on July 21, 356 BC, this magnificent temple was turned into ruins in a fire. The temple built on the original site was destroyed by fire again in 262 AD. Nowadays, there are only some ruins in front of people's eyes.
