Introduction to Xu Xiangqian's former residence: Xu Xiangqian (1901-1991), whose original name was Xu Xiangqian and whose courtesy name was Zijing. A native of Wutai County, Shanxi Province. The first class of Huangpu Military Academy graduated. He once served as instructor, staff officer, and regimental deputy of the training battalion in the Sixth Mixed Brigade of the Second Army of the National Army. In 1927, he served as captain of the Central Military and Political School in Wuhan and joined the Communist Party of China in the same year. During the Guangzhou Uprising, he served as captain of the 16th Regiment of the Workers' Red Guard. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he served as party representative, division chief of staff and division commander of the 10th Regiment of the 4th Division of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, deputy division commander of the 31st Division of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, deputy commander of the 1st Red Army and commander of the 1st Division, and 4th Red Army. Chief of Staff, Army Commander, Commander-in-Chief of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army, Commander-in-Chief of the Right Route Army of the Red Army, Vice Chairman of the Military and Political Committee of the West Route Army. Participated in the Long March. During the Anti-Japanese War, he served as deputy division commander of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, commander of the first column of the Eighth Route Army, deputy commander and chief of staff of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia-Jinsu-Suiyuan Joint Defense Force, and acting president of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. During the War of Liberation, he served as deputy commander of the Shanxi-Hebei-Luyu Military Region, deputy commander of the North China Military Region, commander and political commissar of the First Corps (later changed to the 18th Corps). After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Vice Chairman of the People's Revolutionary Military Commission, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, Vice Premier of the State Council and Minister of National Defense of the People's Republic of China.
