Introduction to Dongpo Caoting: Su Shi (1037-1101), courtesy name Zizhan, was a native of Meishan, Sichuan. He was a Jinshi in Jiayou and served successively as magistrate of Hangzhou, Mi, Xu and Huzhou. In the second year of Yuanfeng, he was imprisoned due to the "Wutai Poetry Case" and was repeatedly demoted. Huizong died in Changzhou. His articles were unbridled and unbridled, his poems were fresh and bold, and he was good at regular script, bamboo painting, and melodies. He was an important figure in the history of literature and art. A rare genius.
Five years after Su Shi was demoted to Huangzhou in the seventh year of Yuanfeng (1084), he was transferred to the deputy envoy of Tuanlian in Ruzhou. His family went east along the river from Huangzhou and trekked thousands of miles to Sizhou at the end of the year. On the way, they were blocked by the Huaihe River. Bing stayed in Xuyi for many days. During this period, Su Shi visited Nanshan several times and wrote many touching lyrics.
