Introduction to the Mausoleum of Emperor Yao:Emperor Yao's surname was Yi and his given name was Fangxun. He was the son of Emperor Ku, the younger brother of Emperor Zhi, and the great-grandson of Huangdi. He assisted Emperor Zhi when he was 13 years old, and was granted the title of Yu Tao, and when he was 15 years old, he was granted another title. In the Tang Dynasty, he was the Marquis of Tang Dynasty, so he was named Tao Tangshi. When he was 16 years old, he became the emperor and established his capital in Pingyang (Linfen, Shanxi). He ruled the world with his virtue of fire. There are several Yao Tombs recorded in historical documents. It is generally believed that Linfen, Shanxi Province, was the main place for sacrificial activities in the past dynasties.
