Introduction to stage couplets: There are many couplets in the Chenghuang Temple. The couplet in front of the Xuanjian Tower is: "The secret room is full of regrets. I don't know the purpose of my visit before I enter. I don't want to burn incense if I want to absolve myself of my own sins." Under the eaves of the stage behind Xuanjian Tower, there is a horizontal plaque with the message "God listens to peace". There is a couplet hanging on the pillars on both sides of the stage, which says: "Good deeds are rewarded with evil deeds, and the cycle of retribution is rewarded in the morning and in the evening. How could you not repay it? Fame and fortune are nothing more than the theater. Entering and exiting are all on the spot." Simple and incisive language. Food for thought.
