Introduction to the upper hall: The upper hall and lower hall of Hu's family temple are both carved and painted. There are murals on the beams and columns inside and outside the screen, and the decorations are exquisite; the sculptures on the roof ridges include birds, beasts, men and fish, all with their own expressions, exquisite craftsmanship and lifelike. The murals and couplets are all by famous artists. Most of the murals were painted by Song Shengyu, a famous Fujian painter during the Republic of China, and the couplets were inscribed by Wu Yifu, a Hanlin scholar from the Qing Dynasty in Yongding County.
