Introduction to Cizhong Church: Cizhong Church is located in the legendary Shangri-La area. The red Lancang River rushes past the village. A suspension bridge crosses the river, connecting Cizhong Village with the highway. Since the village is located on a hillside shaded by green trees on the other side, you will miss it if you are not paying attention while driving from Deqin to Weixi. The reason why Cizhong, hidden in the folds of the mountains, is different from other villages in northwest Yunnan is that it has a Catholic church. This Catholic church built by French missionaries started construction in 1909 and was completed in 1921. The magnificent church became the bishop's auditorium of the "Yunnan Diocese". The church style as a whole reflects the characteristics of the Basilican church and the characteristics of the Roman church. The main building faces east from the west and is a brick and wood structure. On the front is a tall bell tower. Although the upper part of the bell tower is a Chinese-style pavilion with Chinese-style cornices and tile roof, the cross marks on the top of both ends still refer to its Western identity. After years of drifting in the wind and rain of history, the government spent money to repair and protect it, allowing it to regain its former glory.
