Introduction to Jigong Stone: Jigong Stone is an island standing in the center of the Jinsha River. It is located in Liangmei Village, Shangjiang Township, southwest of Zhongdian County, Yunnan Province. It is about 210 kilometers away from the county seat. Because of its peculiar shape, it looks like The rooster flutters its wings and is about to crow, hence the name Jigong Stone.
There was once a Guanyin Temple built on the island. Every February 19th of the lunar calendar, a temple fair would be held here, which was very lively. Going up the Jinsha River from the first bay of the Yangtze River, in the middle of the river at the boundary of Liangmei Village in Shangjiang Township, you will see a stone island shaped like a rooster flapping its wings and crowing, as if it is constantly announcing the dawn to people. This stalagmite island is known as Jigong Stone among the people and "Putuo on the River" praised by scholars. If you take a boat to Shidao, you can carefully appreciate the beauty of this beautiful scenery on earth, which is 160 meters above the water and covers an area of about 400 square meters. This small island is shaded, green, and has several acres of farmland to support the people living on the river bank. If you build a stone peak with stone steps and a road, it will be surrounded by cliffs, which are as sharp as a knife. Historically, people once built the Guanyin Pavilion on the top of Jigong Stone. Every 19th day of the second lunar month is the grand Guanyin Festival. Good men and women from Jinjiang, Judian, Tacheng, Jianchuan, Heqing and Derong in Sichuan Township on both sides of the river crowded Liangmei Village and Jigongshi Island. At that time, plays were performed in the Guanyin Pavilion for people to watch. People worshiped Guanyin, watched plays, recited poems and painted paintings.
