Chen Jitang, a native of Fangcheng, Guangdong (now part of Guangxi), served as Chairman of the National Government of Guangdong Province, Commander-in-Chief of the Guangdong Army, and Commander-in-Chief of Guangdong and Guangxi during the Nationalist Government. During his time in charge of Guangdong, he did a lot of practical things. He is now in the Guangzhou Municipal Government Building. The old Sun Yat-sen Library, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Haizhu Bridge were all built when he was chairman of the provincial government.
