Introduction to the Tomb of General Chen Jitang: The tomb of General Chen Jitang is tens of meters away from Wanghai Tower. It is the resting place of General Chen Jitang and his wife Mo Xiuying.
Chen Jitang, a native of Fangcheng, Guangdong (now part of Guangxi), served as Chairman of the National Government of Guangdong Province, Commander-in-Chief of the Guangdong Army, and Commander-in-Chief of Guangdong and Guangxi during the Nationalist Government. During his time in charge of Guangdong, he did a lot of practical things. He is now in the Guangzhou Municipal Government Building. The old Sun Yat-sen Library, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Haizhu Bridge were all built when he was chairman of the provincial government. Comrade Deng Xiaoping once said that Chen Jitang had been in charge of Guangdong for eight years and had indeed made great achievements.
