Baiyun Nostalgic Introduction: Baiyun Temple is also known as "Longxing Temple", or "Dinghu Ancient Temple", commonly known as Laoding. The temple was first built in the early Tang Dynasty, more than 1,300 years ago, by Zen Master Zhichang, a disciple of the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, Dajian of the Tang Dynasty. The eminent monk Jianzhen of the Tang Dynasty and the Japanese monk Rongrui were frustrated in their fifth eastward journey. After traveling here, Rongrui became ill from overwork and passed away in Baiyun Temple.
