The Zhou Mansion was originally the private residence of Zhou Ying, the diplomat of the National Government stationed in Japan in the early years of the Republic of China. His third son, Zhou Dawen, was an outstanding communist fighter and proletarian revolutionist in the early days of our party. During the Anti-Japanese War from 1938 to 1940, the Zhou Mansion served as a secret activity site for the Zhenyuan underground party branch under the leadership of the Southern Bureau of the Communist Party of China and the Guizhou Provincial Working Committee.
In order to permanently commemorate Zhou Dawen, the Guizhou Provincial People's Government allocated funds to repair Zhou Dawen's mansion in 1988, renamed it Zhou Dawen's former residence, built a Zhou Dawen Memorial Hall, and built a white marble bust of him. It has now become a patriotic education base admired by thousands of people.
