When we returned to the hotel after dinner last night, it was raining heavily. It didn't rain until I fell asleep.
After waking up in the morning, I carefully opened the curtains. Although the rain was not as heavy as last night, it was still falling.
Hey, my Mount Everest!
After having breakfast in the morning, we bravely walked forward, hoping that after climbing over a mountain, the weather would suddenly improve.
This is our trajectory for the day. The blue circle is Chawu Township. If you want to go to Ali and Nanjiang, just go northwest along National Highway 219 from here.
Come out of Shigatse and keep walking along National Highway 318. It rained intermittently, so we didn’t stop much. At the blue circle, we encountered the 5000KM road sign of National Highway 318, so we happily stopped to check in.
Both old and experienced drivers must get one.
After passing Lazi County and Chawu Township, we continued to move forward. Everyone was hungry, so we parked the car in the open space next to the road circled in blue to eat. After a while, a car with a Sichuan W license plate from Liangshan came and two uncles got out and greeted us warmly. They came to see if the fellow villagers needed any help because they saw the same Sichuan brand as ours. The two men followed the State Grid's construction here and said they had stayed there for more than two years. When we asked if we could see Mount Everest today, they both pursed their lips and shook their heads, showing a negative expression. They said they had been here for two years and had not seen Mount Everest a few times. Hey, it seems that today is a bad day.
Continuing to walk hard, not far away, we came to Gyatso La Pass. The altitude here is 5248 meters, which exceeds the 5231 meters altitude of Tanggula Pass on National Highway 109, and has become a new height in our lives.
Before arriving at Gyatso La Pass, we released water at a place and found that the scenery here was pretty good.
The two plaques on Gyatso La Pass have inconsistent information. Let’s take the information on this monument as the standard. After all, I measured it myself and it turned out to be 5254 meters!
We have entered the core area of the national nature reserve
When we parked the car here, 5 or 6 Tibetans immediately came out of the tent next to us, surrounded us, and asked us if we wanted to buy wolf teeth. We politely said countless times that we didn’t need it, but they still followed us unwillingly. We had no choice but to take a few photos of the snow-capped mountains and leave quickly.
Leaving the Gyatso La Pass and continuing forward, there is a viewing platform for Mount Everest at the blue circle. It is said that you can also see the old man of Mount Everest from here.
This is the place. Just like what I encountered before at Gyatso La Pass, as soon as I parked my car, many people immediately came to sell wolf teeth and yak bone products to you. Different from Gyatso La Pass, there are more senior sales directors here
Although the weather is bad, awesome people can always see Mount Everest
When I was approaching Dingri County, I encountered a security checkpoint. As soon as I took out my ID card and gave it to the police, Ctrip called. Ctrip told me that the hotel I booked informed them that there was a power and water outage in Dingri County. The hotel could use its own generator to solve the electricity problem, but the water problem could not be solved, and asked me if I still needed to stay. I quickly stopped the car and discussed with my second uncle. The result of the discussion was to give up going to see Mount Everest and turn around and go back to Lazi County. There are three reasons: 1) The weather is bad and we will definitely not be able to see Mount Everest today; 2) There is no water in the hotel, which everyone said is difficult to accept; 3) At that time, Du Niang and Zhiling both said that the Everest road ahead was congested. Under the suspicious gazes of the police at the security checkpoint, we turned around and headed towards Lazi County.
I walked back to the 5080KM road sign and stopped the car. Firstly, I need to take a rest and release my depressed mood. Secondly, I need to fine-tune my upcoming itinerary. Originally, I planned to go from Tingri to Gyantse tomorrow, and then from Gyantse to Puma Yumco the day after tomorrow. At the same time, I planned to walk half a circle around Yamdrok Yumco and arrive at Gonggar Airport in the evening. The day after tomorrow is a long journey. In order to leave enough time for Puma Yumcuo and Yangzhuo Yumcuo (tentatively called Yanghu Lake), I decided to stay in Lazi tonight and directly stay in Yanghu Lake tomorrow night, so that I can go directly around Yanghu Lake and Puma Lake the day after tomorrow. After leaving Yongcuo, you will have enough time to see and feel it. I quickly canceled and rebooked the hotel on the roadside, and felt a little better afterwards.
Fortunately, the scenery on the roadside is pretty good. Looking at the horses grazing leisurely, I feel cheerful.
There are also Tibetan villages on the roadside that are also beautiful and peaceful.
This old photographer must have been severely depressed for a while.
After that, we rushed to Lazi without stopping. The young photographer sitting in my uncle's car took some pictures of my butt, which I liked very much. These photos accurately portray an experienced driver’s superb skills, chic posture and coquettish movements.
