Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and the fourth largest city in the UK. Developed in the 6th century when the cathedral was built, it is one of the typical cities that blends ancient and modern times. The Scots are warm and friendly people, and Glasgow is known as the friendliest city in the world. The numerous activities throughout the year fully prove that this is a friendly city.

There were surprises everywhere during the trip - in just two days of travel, we encountered concerts and bicycle races, and felt the enthusiasm and vitality of the city.

The American National Geographic magazine also listed Glasgow as a must-visit place in the UK.

The 2018 Cycling European Road Championships were held in Glasgow. The first European Championships covered seven events, six of which were held in Scotland and one in Berlin. That day, there were 16 laps around Glasgow, totaling 230 kilometers. Along the way, spectators braved the rain and cold to applaud the athletes.

The weather in Glasgow is unpredictable, with many clouds, rain and fog. It just started to rain here, and then the sky is clear again, so an umbrella is a must-have item when going out.

May to August is the most pleasant season of the year in Glasgow and the most suitable season for traveling.

Kelvingrove Art Museum is the second most visited museum in the UK, after the British Museum. The collection is rich, ranging from paintings to specimens.

Behind the museum is the University of Glasgow. The commercial center and George Square are in the city center. George Square is named after King George III. There are many sculptures on the square and it is known as the "open-air statue museum". Glasgow, which claims to be "the greatest Victorian city", is also a famous architectural capital in the UK. The City Hall on the east side of George Square is a classic of Victorian architecture.

Picture: Sophie Cave’s work “Floating Head” in the East Court Hall records the various expressions and states of people in life. The heads with different expressions are crying and laughing. Some have their mouths wide open, as if they are expressing opinions or howling in pain; some have their eyes and lips closed tightly, as if they are holding back and struggling.

These places we visited:

Glasgow Botanic Gardens

We walked from our B&B to the botanical gardens and the kids had a great time at the outdoor playground. It is said that there are many ferns planted in the glass greenhouse, as well as specimens from all over the world. The outdoor rose garden and vegetable garden are brightly colored and pleasing to the eye.

University of Glasgow

Founded in 1451, it is one of the ten oldest universities in the world. This university has trained 6 Nobel Prize winners and two British Prime Ministers.

The school gate is simple and low-key, and the Gilbert Main Building on the main campus is magnificent. It is the second largest Gothic Revival building after the British Houses of Parliament. The Gothic clock tower is the finishing touch of the entire building, and the interior of the main building is decorated in Victorian style. When I came here, I felt like I was at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

I like this museum very much. This is not only an art gallery, but also a natural history museum. The exhibits cover many fields, including the world's best collection of weapons and armor. It also has a large collection of Scottish and European art, from natural evolution to human history, from wildlife to modern Europe. Painting is a good place to learn about nature and humanity.

During the time we went, basically all the museums in Glasgow held small concerts from 2pm to 2:30pm every day, mostly playing traditional Scottish music. Like the British Museum, it is free to enter. There is a donation box at the entrance. When we left, we donated 20 pounds to show our appreciation.

The European Championships in Glasgow are part of a new multi-sport event combining the existing European Aquatics, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon Championships with a new Team Golf Championship. Over 11 days of exhilarating sport, 3,000 of the best athletes from across the continent compete. Meanwhile, Berlin hosts the European Athletics Championships.

Business Center and George Square

Walking around this ancient city, almost all the buildings are three or four-story buildings, and time seems to have stood still. In the summer, the government organizes many events. In addition to various competitions, George Square in the city center hosts a music festival.

George Square is a large public open square built during the Victorian period. The square is like an open-air sculpture museum, with many statues of Glasgow and Scottish celebrities. The square is surrounded by exquisite buildings left over from the Victorian era.
