"Fuzhou was selected as a treaty port in order to make it easier to engage in tea trade, because Westerners drink mostly Wuyi Mountain tea. After the opening of Fuzhou as a port, the foreign trade market fell silent, mainly due to the secret obstruction by Fujian officials, and the people of Fuzhou did not It was not until 1853 that there was a turning point. In that year, the Taiping Rebellion and the Shanghai Small Sword Society uprising cut off the old tea road from Wuyi Mountain to Guangzhou and the new tea road to Shanghai. Fuzhou became the only one able to maintain the Wuyi Mountain tea area. With a smooth export route, Fuzhou has become an important black tea market thanks to the efforts of the American Qichang Company."

I asked my roommate that Fuzhou, as one of the five earliest treaty ports, was not outstanding. The influence left by foreigners was tea and the church. Why? My roommate said, don’t you understand such a simple truth? Because missionaries love to drink tea. My roommate doesn’t like to read my travel notes, but I’ve been having a hard time writing them the last few times. He sees it and sighs that it’s unnecessary. Early Saturday morning, when I went to Cangshan, he wandered around the three lanes and seven alleys next to the hotel and told me not to spend too much time "writing essays" during my trip to Fuzhou. Today’s post is quite long, mainly because there are so many photos.

route:

Get out of the subway Shiteng Station, ride a bicycle to the "start" and walk:

(1) Kangshan Lane, Machang Back Street -> (2) Duihu Road, Maiyuan Road -> (3) Huaiyin Lane -> (4) Lequn Road, Aiguo Road -> (5) Tingxia Road, Cangqian Road - > (6) Meiwu Road Yantai Mountain Park -> (7) Lixin Road Gongyuan Road -> (8) Jixingli -> (9) Fuyuan Road -> (10) Gongyuan East Road back to the subway station.

Because there are many guides on the Internet, but there is no simple and easy-to-understand road map, so I drew them here. It takes about three to four hours of walking and walking. If you want to know the history of each building, you can listen to an album called "Traveling in Yantai Mountain" in the Himalayas. You can even listen to it while walking. Personally, I think the author writes too verbosely. , I listened to it while dancing on the train.

Kangshanli, Machang Back Street

Kangshanli

Keyuan was Lin Huiyin's residence when he returned to Fuzhou to visit relatives.

Inside the garden

Coffee shop in Kangshanli

Why is it called "Machang Street"

It's because Qi Jiguang raised horses here back then.

“Actively lose weight and prevent COVID-19

——The system of phlegm-dampness and yang deficiency is the physiological basis of the new coronavirus epidemic."

Duihu Road Maiyuan Road

The ride from the subway station to the "start" was actually only 900 meters. I collapsed as soon as I got on the bus and turned a corner, because it was an uphill road, but fortunately it was not very long, and then it was downhill, quickly riding under the leafy trees. Going downhill, hmm, is like our Gao'an Road turning into a downhill road, it's really beautiful. I walked this stretch of road from Machang Street again.

Huaiyinli

Huaiyin Lane is only one or two hundred meters long, connecting Duihu Road and Lequn Road. The banyan trees are amazing. Cangshan I like this section the most.

Turn into the locust tree shade

Lequn Road Aiguo Road

Exiting Huaiyin Lane is Lequn Road. This area has been taken over by Vanke and is being developed into a historical district from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain.

The former official residence of the Deputy Taxation Department of Fujian Customs

The front of the official residence is now an exhibition hall. Unfortunately, it is not open.

Passing through an old building transformed into a cafe

There are actually people filming inside

There is a path on the right that leads down the mountain.

We could have gone down the mountain from here, to Tian'an Hall and then to the Minjiang River

But the road is closed. I’ll talk about that later.

Shicuo Church

It was raised by British expatriates in Fuzhou in 1856 and completed in 1861.

The ginkgo trees in Fuzhou haven’t turned yellow yet

Keep going, Patriotic Road will become quieter

Former U.S. Consulate, opened to the public after renovation by Vanke

Make a reservation on the "Cangshan Jiuli" column to enter the tour

But there’s not much to see inside 😂

It is worth mentioning that the renovation preserved the entire facade

The exterior is surrounded by clear glass

In the garden, you can see the Minjiang River

U.S. Consulate in Fuzhou, 1911-1913

(The white building on the right, but I’m a little skeptical)

Tingxia RoadCangqian Road

Patriotic Road is a dead end all the way forward, and there is a quiet alley to the south leading to Duihu Road just now. Turn back and go down the mountain via Jingting Road. I had no intention of going down the mountain, but I always wanted to go down to the Minjiang River to have a look.

Tingxia Road

There are old houses along the road

Some are half old, such as the state-owned factories built in the 1970s

Vanke is building a lot of construction here

Therefore, some are old houses and some are newly built in the style of the Republic of China.

See the Minjiang River across the road

Jiefang Bridge

I have a strong ideological struggle and want to walk to the bridge to have a look.

Standing by the Minjiang River and looking back at the construction site

Cangqian Road Boulevard

Cheonan Christian Church across the road

There are long stairs leading to the church

After climbing up, I discovered that it was a road that had just been sealed.

It seems that if you want to come to Tian'antang from Lequn Road, you can only go around in this way.

Church built in 1856

The gatekeeper let me in for a visit.

It's big inside and a little scary

Even so, I still climbed to the second floor very shamelessly👀

Meiwu Road Yantai Mountain Park

From the church, continue along Cangqian Road to Meiwu Road. There is a century-old mansion, Luozhai, which was restored by Vanke. You can also make a reservation in the "Cangqian Jiuli" column to visit. The girl at the door told me that my appointment time was at 11 o'clock and I couldn't go in yet. I looked at my watch and it was 10:56. I said it was only four minutes away? The little girl said, no. I thought it was unreasonable, so I left without looking at it😂

On Meiwu Road, a large crane is dismantling

The boom is very big and exciting. Many people come out to watch the excitement.

I also watched it for a long time

In fact, you can go to Luo Zhai at this time😅

Take a walk around the small Yantai Mountain Park

The guy on the right, Ele.me, is walking uphill with both feet.

The corner next to Cangshan Cinema

Lixin Road Park Road

Walking south along Lixin Road, you can also ride a bike on this section of the road. I was looking at a map while crossing the road here, and I missed my footing. I almost thought I had to go back home because I had a sprained foot. Fortunately, I was thick-skinned and got better after standing for a while.

Baigelou, Gongyuan West Road

There are two stalls at the intersection of Gongyuan Road Lane and Lower Road.

You can enter the yard of the old house behind them

There is a big banyan tree in the middle of the road!

In a poultry shop under the tree, a big rooster crows loudly.

Excitedly, as if calling me to recognize it

Then I got it and said, " I can’t follow you in this life, I will be reincarnated as a human being

Why are you locked up with a rabbit? "

Jixingli

Many people say that walking in Jixingli is nice and enjoyable. I think it’s okay.

Internet celebrity shop, Jixingli Coffee Shop

The most important thing about a coffee shop is silence

This landlady is a bit noisy and her brain hurts.

When my pecan pie finally arrives

I'm so hungry that I could eat three pecan pies 😭

Fuzhou’s Internet celebrity store has first-class decoration and furnishings, but the service still needs to be improved.

Fuyuan Road

There are old (dangerous) houses (buildings) on both sides of Fuyuan Road

Internet celebrity store No. 1, Fuyuanli, 1st floor

Internet celebrity store No. 1 Fuyuanli 2nd floor

This place has the same taste as Xiamen’s renovation and decoration of old houses.

I don’t like Xiamen, so I don’t really like this style either.

Xilin Xiaozhu at the intersection of Gongyuan Road and Fuyuan Road is another internet celebrity store

It has been demolished now

To be exact, this piece was completely dismantled...

Gongyuan East Road

It's called Park Road because there used to be a racecourse here, which was later transformed into a park and is now the Fuzhou People's Stadium. The racecourse in Fuzhou was originally not allowed to Chinese people. A while ago, I saw someone was still retracting the confession about "Chinese people and dogs are not allowed to enter". I thought that they did not say that Chinese people were not allowed to enter. I thought that the Chinese people themselves were narrow-minded. Let's discuss this topic Do people have any brains? Is there a bottom line?

I walked back to Jixingli, took a circle to the subway station and took the subway back to the hotel. Except for the slightly disappointing experience at the Internet celebrity coffee shop, everything else was perfect. I give it to Cangshan, Fuzhou, 100 points. like very much. Those who say that the smell here has completely disappeared are too picky. If dangerous buildings are not demolished and new buildings are built to attract consumption, how can the old streets be protected? In another hundred years, future generations will see Vanke Real Estate as an old building, and people must look forward.
