The early morning flight on October 8th was from Nanjing to Guilin. At around one o'clock in the afternoon, I got off the plane and took a ride to the hotel. The driver is a talkative person, talking about Guilin's new and old cities, his family's income and expenditure, and his experience of carrying passengers during the National Day holiday... This journey must be very lively.
New Town and Old Town
From the airport to the old city, you must first pass through Guilin New City. This is a new city built by Guilin City in order to protect the natural scenery on both sides of the Li River. It is scientifically designed, has a man-made river that Guilin people cannot live without, and has low housing prices and a good living environment. It's excellent, compared to the congestion and dilapidation of the old city mentioned by the driver. However, it seems that only Guilin people who have moved here can feel this complacency in enjoying the high quality of living and their "disdain" for the dilapidation of the old city. "They just think that the old city has everything and life is convenient. In fact, doesn't the new city also have everything?" Isn't this like us who are content in our comfort zone?
The car is driving on the streets of Guilin. On both sides of the streets are modern buildings and green hills that rise from the ground uncannily. Standing at intervals, you can do whatever you want. It seems that nature has opened its arms and allowed you humans to build this habitat in nature. It seems to be an argument that even if human economy and society are highly developed, they can still live in harmony with nature. The city is no longer so cold, and the majestic giants are breathing. Walking through it, you will feel a completely different feeling from the north.
Chun Kee Roast Goose
With the driver chatting and marveling at the natural scenery of the city, we arrived at the place where we stayed in a short while. The two of us put down our bags and went out quickly, trying to get to the "Chunji Roast Goose" that is a must-try in Guilin in 20 minutes.
Riding shared bicycles, the two panting people rushed to the gate and went upstairs in the last two minutes. They couldn't help laughing loudly and shouting "God help me" hahahaha
I ordered the must-order roast goose and several other dishes recommended by Dianping. While waiting happily, I chatted with a pair of uncles and aunts sitting next to me. The two elderly people are over 70 years old. When they were young, they often traveled on business, leaving their wives at home to take care of the whole family. After retirement, the two of them lived a happy life of taking care of their grandchildren and traveling. They drove around most of China, eating local delicacies and visiting famous attractions, and fulfilled the dreams of their youth. A dream that cannot be enjoyed. What makes people enviable is the ease of living till old age, the open-mindedness of seeing through the human body, and the love that has withstood the temper of time.

After eating and drinking, the two big-hearted people sat on the bay window of the satisfying room and began to plan the itinerary for the day and the next day.
The second half of the first day was spent wandering around the city. It takes no more than 15 minutes to get to Elephant Trunk Mountain from your hotel. After reading the guide, I felt that 55 yuan for a visit to Elephant Trunk Mountain was too expensive. The scenic area contracted to a private person is surrounded by trees. From outside the scenic area, you can't see the magical Elephant Mountain in the textbook. It seems that nature has been clearly marked with a price, and you need to pay the currency produced by human beings to be qualified to break out of the shackles of human beings. I felt reluctant to pay the bill, so I walked along the riverside and took pictures, looked at the Sun and Moon Towers in the twilight, and walked around the lively and quiet streets in front of the Royal City Gate. In the dark night, the natural scenery The freshness and the weight of history seem to be integrated into the air around you.
This is the atmosphere unique to Guilin.
