Meet in spring

Visit Huizhou Ancient Village

Xiaotaoyuan, Yi County, amidst hundreds of miles of haze

The land is full of beautiful plants and trees, and the people still wear ancient clothes.

I have always liked small ancient villages. There are no bustling crowds and no strong commercial atmosphere. Only the authentic villages can better feel the local fireworks. I took my children to Nanping Village in Yixian County on the weekend. , is an ancient village with a history of thousands of years!

On the way to Nanping Village, the scenery is so picturesque that you feel like you are entering a painting!

After arriving, I was even more shocked by the scenery in front of me. The top of the mountain was surrounded by clouds and mist. The willow branches in front of me were stirred by the spring breeze. A field of yellow and green rapeseed flowers, dotted with gray tiles and white walls, was like opening an ancient landscape painting. ! Such an ancient village with profound ancient charm and rich colors deeply attracted me~

Walking through the path in the rapeseed field, you will see a stone bridge. After crossing the stone bridge, the plant dyeing workshop will come into view. This is our first stop in Nanping: Xiaoliu Plant Dyeing Experience Workshop

When you walk into the workshop, you are attracted by its strong natural and literary atmosphere. The workshop is not very big, but the areas are clearly divided, including a teaching area, a product display area, as well as a dyeing area and a drying area.

Vegetable dyeing is mostly made of vegetation, some with flowers and leaves, some with stems, and some with root bark. The dye liquor extracted from the vegetation will show a variety of colors, and the color of the cloth can be dyed naturally. Like the ever-changing summer sky, no two are ever the same. Such dyed cloth exudes the fragrance of vegetation, carrying the breath of heaven, earth and nature!

Benbao listened to the teacher's explanation of plant dyeing attentively, and started tying, dipping, washing, and drying the fabric himself. He witnessed the natural beauty finally taking shape, and also felt the surprise and joy of creation!

The second stop of Nanping art learning: making Hui carving cakes

Huidiao cake, also called Yuting cake, is mainly made of sesame and rice flour. Sesame is divided into black sesame and white sesame, so the cake is black and off-white, which is consistent with the "pink walls and black tiles" in traditional Huizhou architecture. The colors are consistent and have very strong local characteristics of Huizhou. It is also known as "the edible Huizhou stone sculpture".

The craftsmanship of making Hui Diao cake is not very complicated. You just need to fry sesame seeds, grind sesame powder, fill cake molds, scrape off excess sesame powder, roll it into shape with a drum, and knock it out of the mold. So even for a child as big as Ben Bao, it’s a piece of cake!
