During the four-day holiday on Double Ten, let’s go to the west coast of the Pacific to enjoy the sea breeze~

We travel together from different cities, different provinces, and even different countries...

Yilan

We headed north from Taichung, passing through Taipei to Yilan. Why not go across diagonally? Because there are mountains in the middle!

Along the highway in Yilan, there are large areas of farmland and mountains not far away, which are relatively primitive natural landscapes. Uncle Lin told us that the houses in the middle of these farmlands are farmhouses, and the beautifully decorated ones are B&Bs where tourists live.

On the way to Suao Port , we passed the crayon factory. Its exterior is decorated like a castle!

We also discovered Guishan Island (volcanic island) not far away on the road, which really looks like a turtle lying on the sea.

Suao Port

When we arrived at Suao Port, it was already lunch time. My uncle took us to a seafood restaurant next to the fishing port for dinner. This meal is all seafood, which is so happy for me!

Best of the show: Flying fish roe kimchi.

After enjoying the seafood dinner, Lulu and I went for a walk beside the fishing boat. Opposite a row of fishing boats, there is a row of seafood restaurants.

After dinner, my uncle took us to Suao Cold Spring. This is a very niche attraction. The water temperature of the cold spring is around 22°C and seeps out from the shale layer under the surface. It is also the only calcium bicarbonate spring in Taiwan.

Why is its water temperature different from ordinary hot springs? Because deep underground, the water temperature is about 50℃. As the spring water rises, it mixes with some of the groundwater. In addition, carbon dioxide gas absorbs heat and expands as it rises, causing the temperature of the spring water to drop!

The styling is a bit cute and the uncle here is very funny!

Jimmy Park

Next to Yilan Station, all the things in teacher Jimmy’s picture books are reproduced in this small park!

1999 <Go left, go right>

"She is used to walking to the left, and he is used to walking to the right.

They never met. "

2009 <Starry Sky>

Scene of little boy and little girl waiting for the bus to go to and from school together

In Jimmy Park, each of us is a child full of fantasy and curiosity.

Hualien

My previous impression of Hualien was that there were frequent earthquakes in eastern Taiwan. And when I actually set foot on it, I was not worried about the possibility of an earthquake, but was deeply attracted by its beauty.

The B&B we stayed at in Jian Township, Hualien

Qixingtan

I am used to seeing the water in the Taiwan Strait, but seeing the endless blue sea of Qixingtan for the first time was quite shocking!

The beach of Qixingtan is very special. It has no sand at all , but is made up of stones of different sizes . These stones are gravels of different sizes that flow along the river here. Under the action of the waves, they lost their sharp angles and became round pebbles or crystal clear pebbles.

"Better than any mountains and rivers I have ever seen and loved"

Qingshui Cliff

Qingshui Cliff is one of the ten scenic spots in Taiwan. How was such a unique landscape of mountains and seas formed? Every stone has a long history, of course it does.

The introduction sign on the roadside told me: Qingshui Cliff is a sea cliff formed by fault structure. Due to the gradual accumulation of biological remains such as corals, shellfish and algae on the seabed, sedimentary rocks were formed through diagenesis, and then marble was formed through metamorphism. Due to the collision between the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate, the sea cliffs rose, coupled with the erosion and weathering of rainwater, the marble cliffs were formed.

What will happen to it in tens of thousands of years?

Taroko Park

A delicious meal in Taroko Park

In fact, Qingshui Cliff is also part of Taroko Park. After lunch, we came to Yanzikou . Because there are often falling rocks, my uncle gave each of us a helmet.

For example, the construction team goes into the mountain to inspect

These caves on the mountain wall are pot caves, which are the most distinctive landforms of Yanzikou. The potholes here were created by erosion from the Liwu River. The rapid stream water is hindered in its development and forms vortices. These vortex water carries river sand and continuously erodes the rock wall. After a long time, the potholes we see on the rock wall are formed!

In fact, there are many landforms and landscapes in Taroko Park that can be observed and thought about!

Dongdaemun Night Market

The fried egg and scallion pancakes I bought after queuing for a long time are just like egg-filled pancakes. Buy one and get a drink for free. Sure enough, there is a long wait for high-quality and low-priced items, just like the nameless bean curd at the corner of the school.

In addition to fried egg and scallion pancakes, I also ate boneless frozen chicken feet, shrimp and pineapple coffin plates...

The scallion pancake owner’s wife’s dog is a bit cute

Outdoor BBQ

Who would have thought that when we visited the night market, my uncle bought a lot of self-service barbecue tools and ingredients (if I had known, I wouldn’t have eaten so much!)

The self-service barbecue is really cool. It can be regarded as a Taiwanese barbecue experience. The freshly made black pig sausage is really fragrant! I also like wild rice... After eating, we played Werewolf together under the moonlight, and my uncle silently cleaned up the mess for us.

We stayed at <Forest House> in Hualien

Ruisui Ranch

Actually, I didn’t know about Ruisui Ranch before coming here, but later I learned that convenience stores sell Ruisui milk! Ruisui Ranch is not as big as expected (and the area for sightseeing may be limited). Perhaps because of the holidays, there are many tourists here. The souvenir shop sells nougat, milk soap, etc. It is different from the dairy shop in Donghai and has more products with the image of cows.

The cows are also very different from what I imagined. It seems that there are no white patches!

Tropic of Cancer Marker Park

The Tropic of Cancer is the point in the Northern Hemisphere where the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer, which is the farthest point from the equator. On the summer solstice, the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer. Of course, the Tropic of Cancer is a line of latitude. It’s not just this place!

The long strip of Hualien on the map

left my footprints

Taitung

Heading south across the Tropic of Cancer, we reach the tropics.

Brown Avenue

There are large rice fields on Brown Avenue. I wonder if the rice for Chishang Bento is grown here. But I heard that the people in Chishang couldn’t afford Chishang rice at first. We rented a battery car and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of wind-blown rice waves on the avenue.

The endless rice fields and our car

Duoliang Railway Station

It is said that this is one of the most beautiful train stations in Taiwan. It's a pity that we didn't wait for that train.

It’s beautiful to see the railroad tracks and the coastline intersect.

Pingtung

Speaking of Pingtung, many people may not know where it is. I only found out after looking at the map. It turns out that Pingtung is so big.

The yellow and white stars marked are places I have been to!

But when it comes to Kenting, everyone must be familiar with it.

The sea in Kenting is different from the sea on the east coast. It is located on the Hengchun Peninsula at the southernmost tip of Taiwan, surrounded by sea on three sides . You can see the sea in three places here! It faces the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Taiwan Strait to the west, and the Bashi Strait to the south, where their waters converge.

Kenting·Sail Rock

sail stone

Some people say it looks like the head of former US President Richard Nixon

Sail Rock is a coral reef that tumbles down to the sea from a nearby mesa. There are also many coral reefs along the coast that can serve as proof!

Kenting·Shadao

The sea in Shadao is just like the sea in Chongwu when I first went there. The white sand here is so pure that tourists are reluctant to step on it and can only watch it from a distance.

Kenting·Kenting Street

The seafood on Kenting Street is a bit pricey.

The filming location of the movie "Cape No. 7"

This is my first time writing a travelogue and I don’t know how to write it. Count down the places you’ve been to like a running account. This trip was mainly about a general tour around the east coast, and I seemed to understand the significance of the Taiwanese people's repeated trips around the island. Because every trip is leaving behind regretful memories! The regret of this trip is that I missed some points in the itinerary. Time flies and the journey is in a hurry.

But when I left, I believed we would see each other again.
