We live in Shuiluo Jutou, which is three or four kilometers away from the dock where we disembarked.

At that time, we did not rent an electric car online, so we walked there. When we went to this B&B, we found that the local navigation in Kinmen was inaccurate. If you are coming to Kinmen for the first time and are not familiar with the road conditions, it is recommended not to rent an electric car because you will get lost.

Most of the buildings in Shuiluo Jutou retain the characteristics of southern Fujian, but they are not entirely the characteristics of southern Fujian. Among the buildings we saw when we arrived, many houses had Chinese-style window lattice, but their roofs were Western-style. The B&B we stayed in at that time also had a building like this.

(The appearance of the B&B we stayed in at that time)

The appearance of this B&B looks like a big house in the countryside. The door, windows and walls on the outside are completely in the southern Fujian architectural style, but the roof looks a bit like a Western Gothic style, but not entirely. This architectural style may be a characteristic of Kinmen. I have seen many buildings that combine Chinese and Western styles, but none of them are as complete as Kinmen. It feels like the two styles are originally together.

(The gate of the B&B where we stayed at that time)

The door of this B&B is completely in the architectural style of southern Fujian. Neither the dragon nor the text style on it looks Western at all. The door inside the B&B looks a bit like the temples we used to visit when we were kids. The owner of this B&B has fenced the outside and planted many plants on both sides of the door and in the courtyard. This makes me feel more like the feeling of the courtyard when I was a child.

(walk-in style)

When we walked in, there were some offerings and a table in the middle. There are some tributes and other things on the table. There is also a table and sofa in the hall of the room. When we followed the owner to the back to check in, there was the restaurant and bathroom of the B&B.

I was originally afraid of being bored at night, so I brought a book to read. (Actually, I didn’t read a single page during those three days). There will be many Taiwan-related books on this restaurant and some tourist places in Kinmen. The host of the B&B will provide you with good disposable toiletries and some drinks. Later we found out that this famous hotel also provided us with a refrigerator and a microwave, allowing us to have hot meals. The owner of our B&B told us that there was no breakfast here, and there was no food nearby. If we wanted to eat, we had to go to Jincheng Town.

(the room inside)

The room we lived in at that time was divided into two floors. The floor of the room was made of red bricks, and the orange lights made it feel very warm. The beds in the B&B are all Japanese tatami style, and there is a doll and pillow on each bed. We slept very comfortably at night, plus the softness of the quilt. It can be said that this may be the most comfortable stay I have ever had. We were able to run around for three days, and this B&B will contribute a lot.

I made the reservation through the Agoda app. The name of our B&B is called Xiejiier B&B. The price of this famous B&B is not very expensive, and the proprietress is also a very good person. When we first arrived in Kinmen, she helped us introduce various attractions in Kinmen and what to eat there. One night when we went back a little late, she would be concerned and ask us to go back earlier.

When we first came to Kinmen, many people told me to be careful of the locals. Because cross-strait relations may not have been very good at that time. But where I went completely changed this impression.

(NTD)

Whether it is the owner of the B&B or the driver, Sister Huang, they treat guests very warmly. We originally thought they were the only ones like this. Later, when we went to the local bank in Kinmen to change money, we were actually able to chat with several staff inside. If it were a bank in Xiamen, I don't think I would have talked so much with the staff. We talked about work and life in Xiamen at that time.

In particular, a girl working in a bank told us this when she was helping us change money. She has been to Xiamen, where the prosperity and population are better than Kinmen. Especially the food in Xiamen, she has to go there once a year. I felt that when she said this, it seemed natural. There are no bank staff like those in Xiamen who count the money and then help me do things. Their attitude makes people feel very friendly. Moreover, the girl's smile was very friendly and made people feel very comfortable.

Also, when we were in Kinmen, Sister Huang was unavailable, so she called another taxi driver for us. When we take his car, he will tell us about local policies and some of our problems. As they themselves said, they lived a very comfortable life there, and he could travel abroad once a year. He said that the local government's policies made him feel that Kinmen is more like a socialist country than us.

When I traveled to Kinmen, what impressed me most was whether it was in banks, restaurants or shops. Their staff is always smiling. When we go to larger stores to buy things, sometimes we can't find things, and many staff help us find them. Everyone says "thank you" after paying.
