Once you eliminate the places you won’t go to, you can finally schedule your itinerary. I will talk about the itinerary first, and then list the activities in various places so that you can adjust your arrangements when you go.

The following itinerary is yet to be modified and improved (Seattle – Anchorage round trip)

D1

Go to Anchorage, buy some food at the supermarket, anti-mosquito spray, anti-bear spray, have a meal, and then set off to your accommodation near Denali. The journey takes about 4 hours.

D2

Take a Denali bus day tour.

Denali is the most famous and popular park in Alaska. Highest Peak Right here, there are different ways to play all year round, and there are many wild animals. Most tourists stay in Talkeetna, which is convenient for playing for a few days. The regular attractions in Denali are as follows:

– Helicopter to glacier climb (from Talkeetna)

– Go to Wonder Lake for one night hiking

– Denali’s one-day park bus tour (Denali road is almost impossible to drive by yourself all year round, you must take the park bus)

– Denali road self-driving (open 8 days throughout the year, queue up to draw lots, and those who win can buy lottery tickets)

I couldn’t go hiking on the glacier, and it didn’t last for 8 days, so I chose a one-day bus trip.

You can book a bus tour route at this address. I chose tundra wilderness tour for your reference.

It takes 2 hours to drive out of Denali to Fairbanks. On the way, there are two viewpoints, north and south, where you can view the Denali area.

Stay in Fairbanks or nearby.

D3

Fairbanks was a forced detour and there were not many attractions. There was an Arctic Museum and Chena Hot Springs on the outskirts, but I was not very interested in either of them. So this day I mainly spent 6 hours on Highway 4, along the big oil pipeline to Valdez.

Attractions on the road:

– US military station (not interested)

– Large oil pipelines along the road

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park (the road is difficult to walk, mainly due to glaciers, so I won’t go)

Worthington Glacier (just a short walk)

Overnight in Valdez.

D4

To take a canoeing tour in Valdez, you can check out these two websites to choose the tour you like.

https://anaadventures.com/about-trips/

HTTPS://wuwuwu.Alaska summer.com/accidental-trips/sea-kayak-about-tours/

I should only choose 3 hours of duck flats, 1 hour of training, and 2 hours of paddling for fun.

Overnight in Valdez.

D5

Since it seems that Valdez is relatively close to Whitter in the south, it can actually only be reached by chartering a boat or something like that, so I had to choose the most beautiful Route 1 to the north and return to Anchorage, which is a 5-hour journey.

PassageMatanuska Glacier, if you are interested, you can arrange the itinerary.

Overnight at Anchorage.

D6

Continue on Highway 1 to the small town of Whitter, where it is said that all residents live in one building. Here you can go fishing and the like. Then to Hope, the total journey that day takes about 4 hours.

Stay in Hope or nearby.

D7

It takes about 2 hours from Hope to Seward.

Stay in Seward.

D8

There are sea fishing tours in Seward. I mainly wanted to take a boat ride to see the coastal glaciers in Kenai Fjords National Park. This website has several options.

I was wandering among these three options before, 1 and 3 have the same route, the difference is that 3 went to the island for dinner in the evening and 1 did not. 2 is a longer walk, going for a spin in the southwest fjords of Kenai Fjords.

In the end, I chose 3, not for anything else. 1 and 2 both depart at 8:00 or 8:30 in the morning, and 3 departs at 10 o'clock, so I can sleep more.

Another way to visit Kenai Fjords that healthy people should not miss is to hike Exit Glacier, which can be arranged as appropriate.

Stay in Seward.

D9

Seward to Homer and take about 3.5 hours along the Sterling Highway, a scenic road. Homer’s fun points:

– Homer Spit extending into the sea

– Sea fishing for halibut

– Katmai Bear Watching

Homer

D10

Bear watching at Katmai.

Although Katmai is off my self-driving route, it is the best place to watch bears in summer. It also has the Valley of Glaciers and Volcanoes, a national park that cannot be missed.

Accommodation: Katmai is definitely worth a night or two if you have the money. The price of accommodation is $700/person for a room with one person, $400/person for a room with two people, $300/person for a room with three people, and $250/person for a room with four people. Even at this price, it’s so popular that you have to set the alarm clock and book it.

Transportation: Katmai can only be reached by seaplane, which can depart from Anchorage/King’s Salmon/Homer. Anchorage also requires taking a small plane first and then transferring to a seaplane. (Five of Alaska’s eight national parks are inaccessible by road. Only Denali, Kenai Fjords, and Wrangell-St.Elias can be reached by road. Among them, Wrangell-St.Elias requires fifty or sixty miles of gravel roads.)

Of course, there are many one-day tours available online, with prices ranging from 800 to 1,500 knives:

After careful consideration , price, time, physical strength, and my unwillingness to go back, I finally chose a one-day trip from Homer.

Stayed at Homer.

For those of you who haven’t included Alaska in your plans yet, I recommend you an address called “Cloud Sucking Bear”. After sending it to some people, they said they were obsessed with it...

D10

Homer back to Anchorage, about 4.5 hours.

D11

Anchorage flies to Seattle.

The above is the preliminary plan, and then I can sleep peacefully. I will decide on the itinerary and accommodation during the Spring Festival, and there may be minor changes. The general self-driving route will not change. I think everyone can refer to it and choose different ways to play according to your own preferences.
