stay

In the perception of Australians, the CBD is where they work, and the suburbs are where they really live. The land in Melbourne's city center is becoming saturated, and locals are accustomed to living in suburbs not far from the city center.

We stayed in Melbourne for 4 days. For convenience, Lao Wang chose an apartment in the central business district. He said that the transportation here is convenient, it is convenient to travel, the scenic spots are concentrated, and there are various restaurants downstairs.

"It is easy to move from frugality to luxury, but it is difficult to move from luxury to frugality." Although there are many functions that should be provided, compared with the two suburban villas in Tasmania, each room in the small apartment in Melbourne is not large and appears to be small. Quite crowded. Not to mention any decorations, each room is also decorated with huge landscape wallpapers, which is very low-key.

Of course, the location of the apartment is still very good. Victoria Harbor is located to the west of the apartment. The balcony faces the pier and you can enjoy the view of the harbor. Go to the beach in the evening and taste local snacks and desserts.

▼Small living room, open kitchen

Moving from a big house in Tasmania to a small apartment in the center of Melbourne was a bit of a psychological gap. The furniture in this apartment is very old-fashioned, the walls are covered with cheap printed landscape wallpaper, and there is not a single green plant. I was so angry that I wanted to move to a hotel.
Brother: Aren’t we family?
Sister: Where are the team members you agreed on?
Me: I said it was ugly at the time, but your father insisted on saying that the city center was convenient. He was very angry.
Second sister: How boring is it for you to stay in a hotel alone?
Me: Humph, I’m looking for a little fresh meat to accompany you.
Brother: He will swindle all your money.
Me: There are also some fresh meat that saves money.
Second Sister: Why is the little fresh meat that saves money looking for you?

At that time, due to the epidemic, Hong Kong's primary and secondary school students had to postpone the start of school until March 2. It was a bolt from the blue.
The kids said they would play for a few more days and then go home. I followed suit and said, "Let's stay a few more days. They won't be going to school for the whole of February anyway."

Lao Wang hesitated: Changing air tickets is very expensive, and he has to rent a car and book a hotel again. . .

Seeing the messy piles of clothes in the living room, kids playing games and brushing up their IGs, I suddenly woke up:

I want to go home! I want to live a life where I can open my mouth to eat, put out my hands for clothes, and lie on the sofa scrolling through my phone and petting the dog!
In the morning, Lao Wang said excitedly: The washing machine is not working. I found the reason on Google and debugged it.
There was also a piano in the living room. Unfortunately, the second sister and younger brother had not started learning at that time, so they really played the piano randomly.

About masks

Before coming to Australia, I received a 3M mask from a neighbor. At that time, masks were already in short supply and demand exceeded supply. This was really a timely help.

When SARS was at its worst in 2003, I worked at Zhangjiang Hi-Tech in Shanghai. At that time, we wore masks that looked like gas masks. The situation in Hong Kong is much more serious than that in Shanghai. I called Lao Wang and asked him if he was wearing a mask. He actually said that everyone was wearing one and I didn’t need it.

This epidemic is so fierce that my family has no masks at all. We only have a box of leftover medical masks we bought before and more than 10 3M masks given by neighbors. When I came to Australia this time, my friends who live here said that Australian masks were also out of stock.

Lao Wang is not worried at all. He said: "I never used a mask during SARS, and the virus is not fatal. Moreover, it has a lot to do with one's own resistance. There is no human-to-human transmission in the local community... "
He is also very confident that the shortage of masks should be solved soon after this period of panic.
(This was said by Lao Wang at the beginning of the epidemic. It turned out to be a slap in the face, and the panic period of mask shortages lasted for a while.)
This kind of strange-shaped mask is actually used by decoration workers. It only protects against dust but not viruses. It was bought in a remote town and is better than nothing.

Finally, a pharmacy in Melbourne sells ordinary medical masks. Each person can purchase only one mask, priced at 1 Australian dollar (5 yuan) each. We bought 5 of them, and the pharmacy packed the masks in a small paper bag.
On the flight the next morning, while packing their luggage, the children mentioned that they had to wear masks at the Hong Kong Airport, and were sad to find that the paper bag was missing. After a frantic search to no avail, everyone finally turned their attention to the garbage bag.
(It’s a medical mask, not the one the child wears in the picture)
Return to a warm and comfortable home.
