DAY5 Shangri-La-Daocheng

I picked up the car at the Shenzhou car rental station in Shangri-La early in the morning and officially started this self-driving trip. I hope that the journey will be smooth and safe.

Group travel is also a process of growing up together. The friends in the group are all great and have the same consensus. They don't cause trouble to others, don't let themselves become troubles, and they all consider each other more.

Throughout the whole day on the road, Chevrolet VS Borgward, relying on the intercom, the people in the two cars were arguing with each other about the advantages and disadvantages of the two cars along the way, and the two came on stage.

After the smooth section of the road, there is a long bumpy section with a speed of 20 yards per hour. At times the road becomes extremely narrow, and at other times you have to watch out for the risk of falling gravel.

Occasionally, when passing by a scenic place, I would stop and relax for a while.

Sometimes there are obstacles blocking the way.

Shangri-La - Benzilan - Qingmai Township - Daocheng, the first section of more than 300 kilometers in more than 8 hours. After three days of adapting to high altitude sickness, when I drove through the 4799-meter section today, I just felt my heartbeat speeding up and finally no longer felt dizzy or vomiting.

After arriving in Daocheng in the afternoon, I checked in at Gongjinlianri and saw a rainbow on the rooftop. It is a very literary and artistic hotel. The warm sunshine reaches the bedside. The colors and materials are tastefully matched. There are 77 rooms in total.

We had dinner at the Sanwangong Fresh Soup Restaurant on the first floor of the hotel, and saw the pink sunset, and then we started discussing the route to Aden tomorrow. There is a dish Jiao passing through your world, which is very suitable for the occasion. The long platter includes beef, matsutake mushrooms, cakes, fruits, diced meat, etc. We are people who plan along the way, and we don’t always plan thoroughly in advance.

Mr. Dao taught us to use star walk to find the Milky Way and stars above our heads. I couldn’t understand it anyway, but I just thought it was awesome.

DAY6 Daocheng-Aden

I slept peacefully on my first night in Daocheng and didn’t have a splitting headache. I was a little happy. We were about to spend two nights in Aden, which is over 4,000 meters above sea level. Everyone was a little nervous.

Before going up the mountain with enthusiasm, I didn’t know that I didn’t smile so much during the days up there.

The accommodation was at Yading Dingxia Duo Inn , which was recommended by five-star reviews and was also highly recommended by Uncle Liu’s professional advice. As soon as we arrived, we were asked to drink water together until we had to go to the toilet. Then we were explained to us the causes and remedies for bloating/headache/dizziness.

After climbing more than 4,000 meters, it is no longer a simple adventure. You must understand the signals sent by your body very seriously. The biggest difference and advantage between his inn and other hotels is the "four don't" policy. He doesn't tell you to drink some water, but watches you finish a few large glasses before going to the toilet. The first step to safety.

Faced with the discomfort of his teammates, Uncle Liu also provided us with massage services. On the first day, he recommended that we not take long walks as our bodies need to adapt. in a short four-kilometre line. I still had headaches and bloating accompanied by vomiting. In fact, I no longer had much obsession with the beautiful scenery.

Third sister-in-law and Su Nan are like two mentally retarded children.

I originally wanted to give up tomorrow’s long-distance 10-kilometer hike, but after two hours of education from Uncle Liu’s plateau safety course and hiking guidance, I will have to bite the bullet tomorrow and use the newly learned abdominal breathing method and body signal feedback. Go and get it done.

Uncle Liu shared with us various cases of sudden death that occurred nearby, many of which were due to lack of attention and no one to look after each other. I deeply feel that when you come to Aden, you must stay at Uncle Liu’s B&B, because he will give you lessons. This lesson has nothing to do with travel and beautiful scenery, but only about your safety and life.

DAY7 Aden

Even though I studied the theoretical knowledge very carefully before going to bed last night, I felt that it should be fine the moment before I fell asleep. As a result, I had a terrible headache all night and couldn't sleep. I started tossing and turning at three in the morning and felt uncomfortable. I got up at six in the morning and Uncle Liu came to help with massage and relief. I felt like I had to rest today.

Some people have a complex of conquering plateaus and mountains, but I don’t seem to have any, and I don’t want to exercise my willpower through mountain climbing. The kind of travel I like is to experience and live slowly. If the physical condition is not satisfactory, other perceptions will be affected. This may be a lazy person's journey.

Sleep until you wake up naturally. There is no place you must reach, nothing you must accomplish, and no great confrontation with your body. I guess I will never want to go to the plateau again.

The five friends set out early in the morning to hike ten kilometers up the mountain, and the remaining three went to the middle of the mountain to see the monkeys wandering around.

In the afternoon, we went to the niche route Frog Sea that Uncle Liu gave us a hand-drawn map of.

As a result, my hands and feet were uncoordinated and I fell into the creek. My down jacket and long johns were soaked all over. I ran back to the room in embarrassment to change clothes and soak my feet in case I caught a cold.

Although the scenery along the way is not as gorgeous as higher up, it still makes us very satisfied. While on the road, I played "The Greatness of Nothing" by Ba Sanyao on my mobile phone. The lyrics were very suitable for the occasion.

Nothing has been accomplished in this life, so what?

Why do you have to be successful to be great?
Who defines failure or greatness?
I just want to be what I want to be.

The other five friends walked 10 kilometers to Milk Sea and Five Color Sea. I silently opened the thermos cup, took a sip of isatis root, took a piece of American ginseng, and admired the food they brought back. View from the top of the mountain.

I was probably the worst class that Uncle Liu ever taught me. I failed to climb up to the Five Colored Sea. I even fell into a stream when I went to the Frog Sea. My clothes, pants, and shoes were all wet and I almost caught a cold. Even though I drank enough water and adjusted my breathing method, I still woke up with a headache every day and was scolded early in the morning. But I am still very grateful for the safety courses and guidance he gave me. After all, after climbing 4000 meters, our body functions are completely different from those on the plains, and that knowledge is something we would not normally be exposed to.
