When I left Shanghai last time, I kept thinking about it. When I come back to Shanghai again, I must visit the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. I finally got the chance this time, but when I was booking tickets online, I made a small twist: Silk, let’s go to Shanghai Museum of Natural History this time! (Branch of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum)

Tips:

1. You can make a reservation on the museum’s WeChat before going (tickets are free)

2. If your hand speed + internet speed are fast enough, you can choose a seat (even a good seat) in a 4D movie. There are shows in the morning and afternoon (30 yuan per person per session)

3. If your hand speed + internet speed are fast enough, you can grab the interactive experience quota for the day (there is no such thing in an instant, and it can only be grabbed on the same day)

4. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday (9:00-17:00)

I took Metro Line 13 directly to Museum of Natural History Station . The first time I stepped out of the station, I felt that today was definitely a worthwhile trip.

The architectural design of the Shanghai Natural History Museum was inspired by the "Nautilus" and the lush vegetation. "Green Snail" .

The official website says

The museum display takes "Nature·Human·Harmony" as the theme and "Evolution" as the main line. It is divided into three major theme sections: "Movement of Evolution", "Picture Scroll of Life" and "Epic of Civilization". It has ten permanent theme exhibition areas. , explaining the various relationships that are criss-crossed and complementary in nature.

Its history can be traced back to Xujiahui Museum (the earliest museum in China) in 1868, and Asian Cultural Society Shanghai Museum (affiliated to the Royal Society of British Museums) in 1874, in 2001 , the Shanghai Museum of Natural History was officially merged into the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.

Let's walk through it layer by layer

second floor

The mystery of origin

"'All things in the world are born from existence, and existence is from nothingness.' The universe originated from the 'Big Bang' about 13.8 billion years ago. Subsequently, numerous celestial bodies were formed one after another, and our homeland, the earth, was born 4.6 billion years ago." by official website

That's right, the first stop when entering the museum is on the second floor. The first exhibition hall turned out to be Starting from the Universe . (At first I was doubting that I went to the Science and Technology Museum by mistake)

After walking through this "small crossing", it's just a matter of turning 90°, in an instant

I go………………

My poor vocabulary makes it impossible for me to think of any other adjectives except arrogant.

Circling down the corridor, there are various amphibians and mammals "sitting" and "lying" on the ground, and various birds "flying" around you. When you raise your head, you will think of a poem "There are fish in the North Ming Dynasty, Their name is Kun" . Although they are not Kun, they can't be stewed in one pot.

For a moment, I really started to wonder whether I was on land, sky or ocean.

Ps.

The Shanghai Museum of Natural History's 4D Cinema is also on this floor. If you want to come back after watching the movie, remember to ask the gate staff to stamp your hand with a UV-visible seal (colorless and odorless, but I Guess it’s the museum’s logo)

1st floor

river of life

"Life - the greatest miracle in the history of the earth, has gone through the ups and downs of gestation, mutation, prosperity and decline, starting over and over again, endlessly." by official website

Watching and watching all the way, I unknowingly walked from the second floor to the first floor. Although I knew they were all specimens, the staff in charge of the display really deserved to add a "ton" chicken drumstick. (What is immersive↓)

Look at this deer

Look at this monkey

Look at this bear

Look at these sheep, sheep, sheep, sheep

Lion, there is such a thing

There are also such

Wolf, there is such a thing

There are also such

Of course there is also Big Meow Meow

He turned his head without saying anything...

I couldn't help but sigh, If we were to leave modern people in that era, who could beat it .

The way of evolution

The road ahead

The way of evolution

"Evolution is the eternal theme of the living world. Are there creatures that we have never met in the distant geological era? How did species evolve into what they are now? What are the differences between ancient humans and today's humans? How can we decipher evolution? Mystery?” by official website

This floor is where I stayed the longest. Because all the important treasures of the museum are here.

Tips

Hechuan Mamenchisaurus: Excavated in Taihe Town, Hechuan District, Chongqing, it is 22 meters long, 3.5 meters high at the shoulder, and 9.5 meters long. It is one of the largest dinosaurs in the world.

Ancient Yellow River Elephant: was excavated in the Loess Plateau in eastern Gansu. It is 8 meters long, 4 meters tall, and has 3-meter incisors. It's a saber-toothed elephant.

This layer also makes me feel the most uncomfortable. Because all the animals and plants here are fossil bones. (Unfortunately, because the museum will be closed soon, I can’t look at each one carefully)

It may be said that life is just a pile of inorganic matter in the end, or it may be said that it is a reverence for life and time. Just looking at the once , or lively, or tall and ferocious creatures, one by one, quietly frozen in time on the stone slab, is a bit unpleasant. (Although in that life-and-death era, you might not be able to think too much)

Besides! The more I read, the more convinced I am that the stories in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" must be true!

Samorin

The introduction says it is an ancient giraffe, but look at its shape and posture, it really looks like the legendary unicorn.

As for why it is called Samorin.

Du Niang said: Because it was first discovered in the Samorin area of Greece. (Farewell)

Thunder beast

Probably it is the in the sentence "There are many golds and jade above, and many rhinoceros below." It is also said that the thunder beast is Kui Niu. Well, if there was a complete version, it would be clearer to see how many legs it has. (Whether the feet and corners were different at that time...not sure, right)

Guess whether this hornless rhinoceros is the Kui Niu. (But it looks like there are at least two JIOJIOs)

The road ahead

"From the beginning of the world to the prosperity of all things, the natural environment on the earth has never stopped changing, and the rise and fall of the living world has been ups and downs. It is our consensus to save endangered species, develop a circular economy, and protect our earth, our homeland. It’s also the ‘way of the future’” by official website.

This section will be more research-oriented. To sum up, it is: What activities do humans have on the earth? What burdens do these activities bring to the earth? We need to "reduce the burden" on the earth. The area occupied is not too large.

This year is the Year of the Ox. The museum has also specially opened a "Cow" themed additional exhibition on this floor.

This is a particularly interesting place: If you don’t read the introduction, you will start to wonder whether you have misunderstood the distinction between cows, sheep and deer in the first half of your life. (And the specimens are all lifelike.)

Ps. There is an entire wall on this floor displaying species that have become extinct since 2002. From animals to plants. (If you are interested, you can watch it for a long time)

Due to lack of time, I didn’t have time to go to the remaining exhibition halls. You can only have a superficial understanding of it on the museum’s official website, and you can’t get enough of it.

Minus 2nd floor

Composed of 6 major sections

Discovery Center: ResearchEducational Activity Area.

Exploring Treasures from the Earth: Telling about the origin and properties of rocks, soil, minerals, and landforms.

The relationship between man and earth: Interpretation of the interaction between human activities and the natural environment in the history of human civilization.

Colorful life: Shows the diversity of the same species and different species.

Ecological Vientiane: Interpret the most representative ecological systems from different perspectives, and understand the interdependence between organisms, organisms and the environment.

Survival wisdom: Look at the feeding strategies and reproduction strategies of natural selection in the biological world.

Negative two M

Shanghai story

"Shanghai, a small fishing village in the past and a metropolis today, has witnessed the collision and integration of modern civilization and traditional culture. Let us browse the past, present and future of Shanghai together in the "Shanghai Story" exhibition area." by official website

A final thought: Even after thousands of years of evolution; even if human beings finally find their way to the top of the food chain; even if they may just enter the museum with the mentality of hunting for novelties/accompanying children at first, those who deserve respect , awe, and learning are all the reasons why museums exist and the real meaning of our visit to museums.

Then find time to go once, twice, three times... (all-day kind)
