Dangerous Ice Lake Road

Dangerous Ice Lake Road

ice lake

Although the boss repeatedly emphasized that the ice lake was much more difficult than the first day, we still delayed our departure until close to 11 o'clock at noon that day. In fact, I felt a little chest tightness when I woke up that day, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. The weather was very good when I set off, and I didn’t want to give up my plan for the day. But it was this wrong decision that put me in danger later! Now that I think about it, if I had not insisted on starting that day, maybe this journey would not have been so unforgettable for me...

The road to the ice lake is different from the previous two days. The entire journey is almost made by hikers, so it is naturally much more difficult. The first few kilometers were very comfortable. I thought I had recovered, but it was just because I was tired from walking at a high altitude.

The tenacious sea buckthorn takes root in the frozen soil,

The mountain elves run freely despite the severe cold,

The majestic thousand-year-old green pines stand tall in the sky,

Snow-capped mountains are looming in the forest,

Traveling through the world of ice and snow,

Except for my own breathing and footsteps,

Everything seems to be frozen,

Fortunately, I have your warmth by my side!

I thought we were not far from our destination when we crossed the Xiaonong Pass and saw the snow-capped mountains. However, the last few hundred meters were simply overwhelming... This section is just a small hillside, with the steepest point approaching 60-70 degrees. If not You can’t even stand on it with crampons, let alone walk on it! At this time, I was out of breath, and my heart rate was estimated to be above 180. I was really tired, but I thought I had made it this far and never gave up. (Actually, this kind of mentality is not good. It is the same as climbing a snow mountain. Sometimes even the top of the mountain is too high. You should also learn to stop when you are in front of you. Later experiences indeed proved that you were too pushy that day!)

After trying our best, we finally arrived at the Ice Lake. Although the scenery was not as shocking as we imagined, the sacred Meili above our heads witnessed our strength!

I thought I would be able to recover as I descended, but I still couldn't breathe after walking for a while. My heart rate remained at a very high level and I couldn't lower it. I also felt that my whole body was weak and I couldn't walk. What's more serious was that When we walked to the shady section, I had symptoms of hypothermia, and my exposed hands turned blue. According to Xiaoxiao, my whole face turned pale at that time. Despite this, I still have a firm belief in my heart - I must rush back before dark with a smile on my face (because there are no people on this section of the road at that time, and the temperature is below zero, so it is very dangerous to stay there), Xiaoxiao even took off her down jacket and gave it to me to wear... Fortunately, I exercise regularly and my physical fitness is still good. At least I won't be unable to walk due to lack of physical strength. After crossing the Xiaonong Pass, my body temperature gradually rose (similar to Xiaoxiao's down jacket). It has a lot to do with wearing it for me), and finally returned to the inn before dark... At this time, Meili and the white light in the distance also revealed their true faces!

Unfinished journey

Unfinished Journey

I thought that after taking some medicine in the inn and lying down for one night, everything would be restored... However, the reality is always so cruel. That night, I felt uncomfortable in my respiratory tract, my mouth was dry, and I couldn't even get out of bed the next day. , I had a splitting headache, and I could hear a whirring sound when I exhaled through my nose. Although the weather was great that day and they asked me to go out to bask in the sun, I really didn’t want to move at that time. I was lying on the quilt and was getting hot and cold, turning over. I was very tired, so I just slept in bed all day, and there was no clinic or doctor in Yubeng Village. To be honest, I was quite scared at the time, because I had never been so sick before! Of course, what needs to be thanked most here is - smile, a thousand words can be said without words!

After learning from the innkeeper that I just had a cold and had a high fever, which was normal, we both felt a little more relaxed. However, my physical condition obviously could not complete the intensity of hiking out of Yubeng, let alone the most difficult Shenhu route. We had no choice but to decide to terminate the trip. We got up on the third day and set off on the return journey... The several hundred meters uphill walk from the inn to the bus stop made me breathless. At this time, the holy Meili in the distance finally gave me a feast for my eyes!

Although this trip to Meili left some regrets,

But what it brings me more are memories that will last a lifetime!

The rest of my life is too long,

Hope to always have you by my side!

Wherever the heart desires, just follow the path of the past,

Life is like a journey, A reed boat sails.

The journey continues,

The most attractive thing is always the unknown of the next second!
