Every time I go out to choose a destination, I actually think about it for a long time. The world is so big and I want to go everywhere, but time, physical strength, energy, and companions are all issues. Wang Xiaowei is now basically sure that he can travel with me once a year, but this The time is basically decided by her, and she doesn't seem to have much opinion on the destination. For her, it doesn't matter where she goes for a trip, which allows her to put down her work temporarily and relax for a few days.
The decision to go to Egypt was of course my idea because I wanted to see the pyramids.
We have learned about the four ancient civilizations since we were in elementary school, and Egypt is among them. To be honest, my knowledge of Egypt is basically the pyramids, the Sphinx, and Mubarak; so I can go and see the pyramids with my own eyes in my lifetime. It's a dream fulfilled.
It was early morning when we arrived in Egypt. The 11 hour flight was actually very tiring, but there was a tour immediately afterwards. Fortunately, Wang Wei and I could both sleep on the plane, so it didn’t hurt. No spirit; our first stop was of course the Pyramids.
The Pyramid of Khufu is the largest one. It was built in 2690 BC. When I first heard about these dates, I had no idea at all. However, after traveling and visiting too many ancient monuments, I finally understood I have a little idea of the historical age of these ancient cultural relics in Egypt. The pyramids are the tombs of the ancient Egyptian kings, the pharaohs.
The Pyramid of Khufu, high The pyramid is 146.5 meters high and 230 meters long at the base. It is built with 2.3 million stones weighing an average of 2.5 tons each, covering an area of 52,000 square meters. There is no adhesive between the stones, and they are built by overlapping and interlocking with each other. 1888 Before the Eiffel Tower was built in France in 1860, it was the tallest building in the world, overlooking the world for more than 4,000 years. 10 Thousands of people spent 30 It was completed in 2011.
When you touch these ancient stone bricks with your own hands, you will feel an indescribable emotion. These stones have been here for more than five thousand years and have witnessed many vicissitudes of life. Human beings seem so small in the face of the vast history. Even if the world today promotes itself, Even if you are still a leader in your world, you may not be as good as an ant in front of this stone.
The Egyptian pyramids are one of the seven wonders of the world. They have many magical places. In addition to architectural miracles, there are also numerical coincidences and astronomical geography. Therefore, the Egyptian pyramids represented by the Pyramid of Khufu have exceeded human imagination. Rumor has it that it was built by aliens.
At this point, I can't help but think of an article I read a few days ago. Some Russian scientists believe that the pyramid is a It’s a historical hoax. The pyramids are nothing more than a concrete project from 100 years ago. This conclusion sounds terrible, but I’m not a historian, nor am I an Egyptian, so I was happy to hear it. And not just happy, it actually affected my impression of the visit in the next few days to some extent. We’ll talk about this later.
However, the results of the third phase of excavation at Wadi Port in 2013 confirmed that the pyramid was not a later building. Archaeologists found several full volumes of Egyptian papyri there, one of which was several feet long. These 4,600-year-old Most of the Egyptian hieroglyphs on the papyri are still clearly legible. It turned out that these manuscripts were the work diary of a man named Miller. Miller is the manager of the Khufu Pyramid project. He is directly responsible to Pharaoh Khufu, who is Pharaoh Khufu's half-brother and the commander-in-chief of the entire Khufu Pyramid project.
The papyrus records in detail the task list and project progress of Miller and his two hundred pyramid builders. The log is updated twice a day and looks quite neat.
But whether it was five thousand years ago or a hundred years ago, the pyramid is indeed a very magnificent building. Sometimes we go to a place not to prove what history is like, but probably just to fulfill one of our wishes, and this A wish is what you wanted to come true when you were a child. Looking at it this way, even the building 100 years ago is still majestic in my heart.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, lions were the guardians of various mysterious places and the gates to the underworld. Because the Pharaoh wanted to become the sun god after his death, such a sphinx was built to guard the door for the Pharaoh. The entire statue, except for the lion's claws, was entirely carved from a piece of natural rock. Due to the loose stone and more than 4,000 years of history, the entire statue has been severely weathered, especially the face was severely damaged. Some say it was caused by the Mamluks using it as a target for shooting practice, while others say it was The traces of shelling left by Napoleon when he invaded Egypt in the 19th century. But the Sphinx seems to be much smaller than I thought. Perhaps it is an illusion caused by the picture, or of course it may be due to the comparison with the huge pyramid.
After seeing the pyramids, we went to the Cairo National Museum. The Cairo Museum is a famous museum in the world with rich collections, because Egypt is full of cultural relics. Just like the pyramids, you can touch them casually, and the best collections in the museum are also exposed. , some places are even like a warehouse.
In addition to many statues in the museum, what impressed me most were the mummies. After all, mummies are also an important reason why I know Egypt. Walking among a bunch of mummies was a bit uncomfortable at first. According to the habits of Chinese people, this place should be considered too yin-qi. It's heavy, but looking at the people coming and going in the museum, there are many children. Besides, the pharaohs or nobles who were mummified have probably ascended to heaven and become gods, so you shouldn't be timid; most of the mummies have not been opened. Seeing a child's mummy completely naked, I thought it was really magical. In addition, there are two mummies with open coffins in the exhibition hall for people to visit. Most of the other mummies have to buy separate tickets to see them. I think I still count them. Come on.
In fact, I feel that I have basically fulfilled my wish for Egypt on this day in Cairo, and it doesn’t seem to matter to me if I don’t see the rest.
