On my rest day, I chose Stanford between Silicon Valley and Stanford and drove several bridges in the Bay Area.

san francisco

I really can’t remember which one is which. It was already closed when I got to the Oracle Arena. I remember someone reminded me not to stay in Oakland when it was dark, so I took a closer look and went back to the San Francisco Pier for dinner. Let me complain, the highly rated seafood restaurant recommended by the Chinese tastes average and is not as good as the breakfast in the small restaurant next to the motel...

San Francisco—Crescent City

The main goal for this day is Redwood National Park, which is about 500 kilometers from San Francisco. There is also a similar Redwood/Sequoia National Park in California near Yosemite. I chose this one for two reasons. One is that it is just north. There is no detour on the way, and the other purpose is to see the king tree that I read in books when I was a child. The tree king is quite difficult to find. It is not on the mountain with several hiking trails, so many people can find it. In the evening, I settled in Crescent City on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. I ate squid sticks and shivered several times from the cold~

Crescent City—Portland

Destination: Crater Lake National Park

Although the general direction of the national park and Portland are the same, there are still 200 kilometers of detours in the 700-kilometer journey, from sea level to 2,400 meters above sea level, just to see this quiet and blue crater lake.
The location of this national park is quite awkward. If you can spend three days hiking in it, it is quite worthwhile. I only stayed there for 3 hours and basically didn’t get out of the car and walked around the lake. One lap.
