Yatang Village, located in Donghua Town in the east of Yingde City, was built in the fifth year of Hongwu. The green hills in the north of the village are rolling and reaching to the sky. In February 2019, it was designated as the sixth batch of "Ancient Villages in Guangdong Province".
There is an antique gate tower standing at the entrance of the village, with the word "Yatang" on the lintel. There are couplets on the left and right doorposts, "Cheng Daya values literature and education, and Jia Jingnong establishes a high hall", which complement each other. The artistic charm reveals the spirit of Yatang people.
In recent years, Yatang Village has formulated a beautiful countryside construction plan to create a small bridge and flowing water style countryside to retain the best nostalgia.

The history of the ancient village of Yatang Village can be traced back to more than 600 years ago. The ancient houses in the village display a strong Hakka culture. There are still 12 Hakka houses preserved, including Guoerlou Houses, Sidianjin Houses and Stone Tower Enclosed Houses. The most representative one is the stone building enclosed house. The stone building enclosed house was built in the early Ming Dynasty and was made of water, stone, sand, lime and other materials. It has a strong sense of simplicity.

There is a 500-year-old ancient banyan tree in Yatang Village, witnessing the history with it. The tree has an average height of 26 meters and a crown width of 25 meters. There is also a famous century-old banyan tree that is 110 years old, with an average tree height of 20 meters and a crown width of 16 meters. Certified by the British-German Green Council.
In terms of folk customs, there are lion dances, spring cow dances and crane dances, etc. During the New Year or happy events, the cows have fallen. Wish you peace by passing the baton. People were in high spirits, the gongs and drums were noisy, the salutes were rumbling, and it was very lively.

There is a stone plaque of "Lang Guandi", and there is also an ancient incense burner and "Rongyin Society" There is an ancient incense burner piled with gold and jade, as well as more than 300 pairs of couplets and three pieces of calligraphy written by Lai Yuexuan.

There are many historical relics and monuments in Shakou. The Shilaodun site on the Beijiang River was included in the fourth batch of cultural relics protection units in Guangdong Province in 2002. The Gouleochong ruins, Chaoshui Temple and inscriptions, and the Luotianling tombs of the Southern Dynasties have also been effectively protected. Shakou Town still retains typical Hakka architectural buildings. Currently, the well-preserved ones include Yangtang in Xinjian Village, Chengtou in Jiangxi, Triangle Building in Hongfeng, and Luotian in Yuanshan.
