Lago Titicaca The largest freshwater lake in South America, located in the Andes Mountains at the junction of Peru and Bolivia, connecting civilizations between Peru and Bolivia. The lake is 3812 meters above sea level, making it the highest mountain lake in the world that is navigable by large ships. There are many islands in the lake, most of which are inhabited. The largest island, Isla del Sol, has temple ruins from the Inca era. Lake Titicaca is high in altitude and not frozen, and is inland but not salty. It is the origin of potatoes cultivated by Indians. Lake Titicaca can be said to be the mother lake of the nearby Indians and is also regarded as a sacred lake.

Generally speaking, everyone will have two tourist routes, one on the Bolivia side: Isla del Sol, a paradise in the holy lake on the plateau. Peruvian side: Isla flotante, a magical island made of reeds. Today we will continue the previous article on La Paz travelogue and head to the Island of the Sun.

CopacabanaCopacabana

From La Paz to Isla del Sol, you must pass through the lakeside town of Copacabana. Zoro started from the station Terminal Cementerio. Due to the rush, we boarded a minibus on the street which charged 30bs and the space was slightly narrow. It took about three hours to get there. It is recommended that you take the bus, which costs 25bs per person and is more comfortable! The driver will collect the passengers' phone information during the journey. After arriving at the pier, you need to get off the bus and buy a ticket to take the ferry across the shore. The driver will wait at the pier on the other side. The ticket is 2bs per person. ( exchange rate 1bs=1.03rmb)

I was stuck in traffic so I bought ice cream to eat, 1bs each

Isla del sol

The sun is the god in the hearts of the Incas and Mayans. They call themselves the sons of the sun, and Sun Island is located in the center of this plateau lake. The boat to the island departs from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. Zoro bought a one-day round-trip ticket for 50 bs. After going to the island, he needs to purchase an additional 10 bs island ticket. The screen below is full of blue warning!

At this pier, many people choose to climb the mountain and cross the central ridge to pass through the many Inca ruins (friendly reminder, please reapply sunscreen in time). Zoro, who has high reflexes, chooses to go down the mountain and set sail with the boat to the next pier - the direct entrance to Sun Island. !

Since I had a bit of high fever after returning from La Paz’s Moon Valley, my heart was pounding so hard that I couldn’t breathe. When I arrived at Lake Titicaca, my high fever became even more severe, so I didn’t climb to the higher Yumani Village or go to Moon Island ( You can only visit one island in one day) so friends who have been there are welcome to add local cultural stories and experiences.

Hotel Las Olas

A five-star recommendation away from the hustle and bustle, book in advance for US$52 per night, and there are also fat magical alpacas raised in the courtyard!

At the end of the trip, it started to rain lightly on the way back. The bus made a rattling sound as it ran over the stone pavement on the old street. I fell asleep as the Jesus hymns played on the bus.

I hope you can protect the child hidden in your heart.

Keep the innocence, curiosity and stubbornness Happy Children’s Day ~
