On November 19, 2020, we officially started our self-driving trip to South China from Panzhihua. This travel note will be the first of the special travel notes on the trip to South China. Next, more than ten travel notes will be presented one after another. In order to ensure the quality of the travel notes and combine them with my daily schedule, I initially plan to complete a special travel note every day. The format and content of the travel notes are as follows: the first part introduces the day's itinerary, including food, accommodation, transportation and consumption; the second part introduces the details of the day's tour For scenic spots, choose about ten photos of scenic spots; in the third part, talk about what you saw and thought during the itinerary and when visiting the scenic spots.
1. Itinerary for the day
Today’s itinerary: Panzhihua to Wuding, stay in Wuding, and visit Yuanmou Langbapu Earth Forest on the way.
Departing from Panzhihua at 8:50 in the morning, driving onto the Beijing-Kunming Expressway from the Renhe main intersection an hour later, exiting the expressway at Yuanmou Tulin at 10:58, driving 40 kilometers on the city road, and arriving at Langbapu Tu at 12:05 Forest scenic area. Touring the scenic area for 2 hours and 40 minutes, starting from the scenic area at 2:50 and returning to the Yuanmou Expressway intersection, and entering the Beijing-Kunming Expressway at 3:55. Arrive in Wuding at 5:10 pm and check into Wuding Xinyuan Hotel.

The day's journey is 290 kilometers, with tolls of 101 yuan, accommodation fees of 99 yuan, tickets to scenic spots are 25 yuan per person (half price in off-season, 50 yuan in peak season), sightseeing cars in scenic spots are 20 yuan per person, and buying jujube pear fruits next to Yuanmou Orchard is 15 yuan. The total consumption for the day was 305 yuan. Lunch was served under the shade of the trees at the entrance of the Langbapu Tulin Scenic Area. In the morning, the food was served in stew beakers such as millet porridge and steamed dumplings; for dinner, we boiled egg and tomato noodles in the hotel with our own cooking utensils, which was very delicious. The total consumption on the day was 305 yuan.

2. Introduction to scenic spots

A huge introduction to the scenic spot is posted at the entrance of the scenic spot, describing the scenery of the scenic spot like this: The main tour route of Langbapu Tulin is 5855 meters long. Tulin Scenic Spot is as abstract as Picasso's painting, as passionate as Pavarotti's opera, and as shocking as Beethoven's symphony. Enter the earth forest and use your vision to understand and feel it. Everyone will gain a different aesthetic pleasure.

Visit the Langbapu Earth Forest in Yuanmou County, Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It's the off-season for tourism. Tickets are half price at 25 yuan, and sightseeing buses are 20 yuan. The price/performance ratio is relatively close to the people, and the tour experience is far better than the Wumao Earth Forest next to the Yuanmou Expressway that I visited in 2006. Unfortunately, after getting off the expressway from the Tulin exit, the provincial highway 43 kilometers away from the scenic spot was not ideal. It took nearly an hour to walk, including 10 kilometers of gravel roads, but the road surface was very smooth. The temperature in the scenic area is relatively high, 28 degrees at noon.

3. How are soil forests formed?

When visiting scenic spots, I admire the beautiful scenery and marvel at the magic of nature. I imagine that a magical force from the extraterrestrial universe created such beautiful scenery, but there is no evidence. After returning home, I searched online and found some explanations. Here are some excerpts.

Earth forests are formed over millions of years under the influence of external forces of nature (mainly water flow). Soil forest is a special form of lost landform, a strange natural geographical phenomenon, which is formed by comprehensive factors such as widely varying terrain structures, materials, tectonic movements, hydrology and climate, soil mass strength and hydrodynamics.

Yuanmou soil forests are mainly distributed on the west side of Longchuan River, a tributary of Jinsha River, and along the edges of river valleys and gullies with branch water flows. Among them, the larger and more typical ones include Banguo, Hutiaotan (Sesame), and Wanbao. , Xiaoleizai, Xinhua and other soil forest communities. The area of these communities is about 5 square kilometers. The earth forest pillars are tall and straight, and each "forest pillar" has a unique shape, forming a wonder of earth forest with different styles. Some of these forest pillars are like ancient castles, some are like palaces, some are like pagodas, some are like giant swords reaching into the sky, some are like sword spines lying across the ground, some are like eagles with spread wings, like galloping horses, Some are like helmeted guards, some are like scholars waving fans and chanting, and there are also three-dimensional group portraits of "Jade Girl Watching the Clouds" and "Mother and Son Traveling Together", which are truly amazing and amazing. Minerals such as mica and quartz are densely distributed on the soil pillars, which reflect brilliant light under the sunlight, adding brilliant colors to the soil forest.

Yuanmou soil forest can be divided into four types according to its origin and morphological characteristics of soil pillars: soil sprout type, castle type, pointed bamboo shoot type and iron cap type. Various forms of soil pillars are mixed and distributed, which makes the soil forest form a colorful and ever-changing posture.

The moisture content and expansion coefficient of soil minerals in Yuanmou Soil Forest vary after water absorption. The surface rock layers have been affected by weathering for a long time, resulting in a series of cracks. Surface runoff and rainwater first erode along the cracks and soft rock layers. Some soil buds with a height-to-diameter ratio of less than 1 meter and a relative height of less than 1 meter are formed. This type is the prototype for the development of other types of soil forests.

Overlooking the Yuanmou Earth ForestThe water flow continuously erodes and cuts on the basis of the soil sprout type. It erodes and denudes along the vertical fissures, horizontal fissures and other cracks in the stratum as well as the layers of soft and hard rock layers, forming arches and flat caves. , shafts and other shapes, people wandering through it feel like they are in an ancient castle. This type of earth column is generally connected to the base of the column. The top is thick and round, or in a jagged shape, with a large area and a relative height of 2 to 5 meters. However, the flat copper and arch holes below the column are affected by the flow of water and gravity. It is often easy to collapse under the influence, causing the column to separate and develop into other types of soil columns.

This type of soil forest is mainly composed of sand and clay, which is loosely cemented, and there is no hard cementing shielding layer on the top. Therefore, due to the erosion and erosion of rainwater and the erosion and cutting of surface water, conical soil pillars are formed. The top of this kind of soil forest is sharp, shaped like a huge bamboo shoot after rain, or like the spire of a pagoda. Its height is generally 5 to 10 meters.
4. Record travel status in real time every day
I think back then, when I was in high school at Bingsan Middle School, the highly respected teacher Li Zhixia once told us, “A good memory is worse than a bad writing!” He suggested that we develop the habit of writing a diary. I have been keeping diaries for many years, and I have dozens of diaries filled with diaries of the same size. Later I learned that many great people in the world have the habit of keeping diaries. This time at the Red Army Long March Memorial Hall in Yudu, Jiangxi, I also saw the diaries left by the Red Army soldiers during the Long March. I have benefited a lot from keeping a diary. This is a wealth that Teacher Li left me.
Now the way I keep a diary has been greatly improved. In addition to insisting on writing with a pen every day, I also often organize important things into a computer version. This trip was the same as before. I brought my beloved Apple laptop with me. After checking into the hotel every night, no matter how tired I was, after washing up, I must enter the information recorded in the diary in real time on the day's journey into the computer. Before departure, an Excel form has been designed on the computer to record the day's travel status, such as driving route, mileage, consumption, etc., so that the day's accounts can be cleared on the same day. In this way, I have laid the foundation for sorting out my travel notes after returning home.
