Suddenly, a spring breeze comes overnight, and thousands of pear trees bloom.

A "late spring cold" hit the Central Plains, and the weather that had not warmed up suddenly dropped below zero , making it feel like it was back to the harsh winter. Thick white rime appeared among the high mountains of South Taihang, and the silver-white branches swayed in the wind, swaying in all directions, which was really beautiful.

Liuxiu Ladder is considered to be the most dangerous ladder in the Taihang Mountains. Standing on the platform in the middle of the ladder, you can see the blue sky above your head and the cliff below your feet. The feeling of falling in the air makes your scalp numb, but you can't help but challenge your heartbeat.

eight stairs

Badao Ladder is located at the foothills of Taihang Mountain in Huangshui Township, Huixian County. The so-called "ladder" in South Taihang is a very simple word, which contains the hardships and wisdom of the ancestors in the mountains. The residents living in the mountains worked tirelessly to climb the cliffs for the convenience of transportation. A winding trail is carved out according to the mountain.

Compared with other ladders in Taihang, although the Eight-Ladder Ladder is steeper, it is not too dangerous. The road surface is wider, about one meter more, and there are dense vegetation on the roadside. Even people who are afraid of heights will not have much reaction.

Scenery along the way

Depart from Zhengzhou in the morning and head south. Arrive at Lingshan Town, Luoshan County at around 12 noon. Lingshan Town, Luoshan County, is located in the southeast of Xinyang City, far away from the summer resort Jigong Mountain.

In March, under the influence of an unexpected late spring cold, the Taihang Mountains ushered in rime, and the mountains and fields were covered with snow, just like a fairy tale world.

On March 7, I went to Nantaihang with my friends to see the rime and catch the tail of winter!

10:00 Arrive at hiking starting point - Huanghuayuan Village.

The name "Yellow Garden" also has its origin!

Originally, forsythia flowers were blooming everywhere around the village. In spring, all yellow flowers surrounded the village, so it was named Yellow Garden.

Although it is a sunny day today, the temperature in the mountains is still not high, and there is still snow in some shady areas. Not long after we left, everyone was sweating profusely and stopped to take off their clothes.

After an hour of climbing, we reached the entrance of the eight stairs.

At this time, teammates have climbed up to the eight-step observation deck and shouted, "Come up and see the rime!".

After passing through the sky to reach the viewing platform, the mountains are covered with rime, and crystal "ice flowers" of various shapes are dotted on the exposed cliffs.

When you take a closer look, the needles on the trees are wrapped like sharp blades, and the low dead branches are wrapped in strange shapes, which is really interesting.

From dead branches and weeds to ancient trees and pines, everything wears crystal clear winter clothes and turns into exquisite works of art.

Although the Eight Stairs is relatively steep, it is not too steep and is a very suitable place for taking "headshots"!

Walking to the top of the eight stairs, you can see all the mountains at a glance. Looking far into the distance, the cascading mountains are still vast on the left, and the clouds and mist on the right cover the misty peaks. The beautiful scenery is often reserved for those who work tirelessly.

Along the winding path in the mountains, I looked at the strange peaks and rocks around me. Thick snow occasionally appeared on the path, and the pine trees on the hillside were still lush.

White and pink flowers are blooming on cliffs and hillsides. They dance wantonly in the spring breeze, decorating the green waters and green mountains.

About seven or eight miles away, there is a beautiful village called Nanpan. Nanpan is famous for having a reservoir. The reservoir is more than 30 meters high. It was built with huge rocks and has a 50-centimeter-wide river ladder. able to pass.

Nanpan can be said to be a village on a cliff. Standing in front of the village and admiring the cliff, it looks like cutting with a knife and an ax. Words such as "dangerous" and "precipitous" are most vividly interpreted here.

Behind Nanpan Village, over the mountains is the boundary of Shanxi. There is a huge stone on the highest mountain with a huge square hole in the middle, which is called Cave Mountain.

The cave is known as the "Holy Elephant Gate of South Taihang". The cave is more than ten meters high and people can climb through it. In the cave, one can step on the boundary of Henan and the territory of Shanxi.

It was already past one o'clock when we arrived at Nanpan Village. We found the "five-star camp" left by the pioneers and started having lunch.

The plan before the trip was to make meatball soup at noon, and the friends each brought their assigned items. Unfortunately, the friend who brought the meatballs was unable to participate in the event due to something else, and the stoves and tableware we brought were of no use! Fortunately, I brought some cooked food to fill my stomach!

After lunch, we headed to Dishuizhai Village and passed two tunnels on the way.

On the red cliffs of Taihang Mountain in Huixian County, every small village is located in an isolated paradise-like mountain col. Every mountain range blocks every small village. On this mountain road beside the cliff, almost every village is Between each village, there is a road tunnel connecting it to other villages.

After walking out of the second tunnel, you will see a large area of terraced fields. The layers of terraced fields embody the hard work of the mountain people in the past year. This village is called Dishuizhai. The village of Dishuizhai got its name because water drips down from the cliff at the entrance of the village all year round. There are more than twenty families.

Dishui Village is adjacent to Wangmangling in the west. It is said that Wang Mang once chased Liu Xiu here. This is a legend. However, It is true that the villagers of Dishuizhai Village took advantage of natural dangers to fight against the Japanese army during the Anti-Japanese War!

There is a beautiful mountain peak above Dishuizhai Village. There are four or five small hills protruding from the mountain peak, like blooming flowers. The villagers call it Huashan. The mark on the map is Huashan Mountain, with an altitude of 1576 meters. From Dishuizhai Village, you can go up to the top of Huashan Mountain. , and then go down the mountain via a sheep road to reach Nanping and Guoliang.

The village scenery of Dishuizhai is very beautiful. A clear spring flows continuously from the small canyon next to the village all year round.

Spring is warm and flowers are blooming. The mountains are filled with red peach blossoms, white pear blossoms, and yellow jasmine flowers. The village is decorated like a fairyland.

Pass through Dishuizhai Village and reach Liuxiu Bridge on the edge of Jiaoding Mountain Scenic Area.

Liu Xiu Bridge, according to legend, when Wang Mang chased Liu Xiu, when he arrived here, Liu Xiu was too tired to walk, so he had to hide under a bridge on the winding road. Liu Xiu successfully escaped after resting under the bridge for a night.

Looking down from the Liuxiu Bridge Observation Deck, you can see that the villages are closely connected to the mountains, closely connected, well-proportioned, and crisscrossed by roads.

On the right side of the Liuxiu Bridge Observation Deck going down is the Liuxiu Staircase, which is considered the most steep ladder in the Taihang Mountains.

Going down the mountain along the Liuxiu Staircase, the cliff road is a bit difficult to walk on, so you have to use your hands and feet, and you need help in some places, which is a bit exciting.

Standing on the platform in the middle of the ladder, with the blue sky above your head and the cliff at your feet, the feeling of falling in the sky makes your scalp numb, but you can't help but challenge your heartbeat.

Below Liuxiu Stairs is Shuixian Temple. Shuixian Temple is a temple located in a stone niche. The stone niche is a natural groove formed on the cliff. The temple inside is built against the mountain. Behind the temple, there is a clear spring that gushes and flows, forming a stream surrounding several buildings.

The spring water is clear, sweet, and gurgling like a mountain spirit. After gushing out from the stone niche, it nourishes the entire foothills. Perhaps this is the reason why it is called Narcissus Temple.

In front of Narcissus Temple is a stone step trail, with probably thousands of steps and not very steep.

Arrive at Hankou at 5pm and start the return journey, ending the day happily.
