Speaking of camping Waterloo, we have to start with our first trip to Chashan this year. Here’s the thing…
The first tea mountain trip in 2020
We discovered a pattern. When Pengpeng, Yifan and I are together, the outdoor experience becomes more awkward. We have been trying to break this curse.
Chashan is an excellent outdoor destination around Beijing in our minds. Although the weather forecast is not optimistic, we called Yifan again and gathered just before Pengpeng left Beijing. By the way, Yifan had a perfect camping trip.
We have two cars in total. Once there are a large number of people, it is impossible to organize activities on time.
Let me tell you in advance that you must go to Chashan as early as possible. The planned departure is at 8:30, but the actual departure is at 10:00.
The hour and a half delay, as well as the subsequent poor planning, left me with deep regrets and paved the way for my second trip to Chashan this year (third trip in total).
We only took the path into the mountain at 1pm.
I went up the mountain at two o'clock. The camp on the ridge left a deep impression on me: it was a bit fairy.
Before entering the village, we spent an extra hour exploring another campsite:

The second tea mountain trip in 2020
Yang Na is a good friend of ours. Pengpeng and I took her to the world of camping. Her first camping destination was Chashan. She is a dedicated outdoor enthusiast, and this week (that is, the week immediately following the one above), she plans to go to Chashan for the third time, and she also called me.
In fact, I am not that easy to play. People say that I play every day and every week. This statement is very inaccurate. I only get outdoors once every two weeks .
But this is Chashan, and my girlfriend works in a big week company. This week happens to be her big week. This is a rare opportunity, so I decided to go out again.
There are three cars in total. Before setting off, I strongly recommend bringing a walkie-talkie, because it will be of great help to the coordination of multiple cars. It really helped us a lot afterwards.
(The latter is that motorcycle walkie-talkies are too difficult to use, and I would not recommend other companies’ walkie-talkies if I am interested...)
Others arrived in Huailai early. My girlfriend and I went to Huailai by high-speed rail, and then gathered to go to Chashan. Anyway, we have enough time.

When we came to the pass to Chashan Village again, the fog was so thick that only the head of the wind turbine was visible.
Fairy Mountain Camp
Drawing on the lessons learned last time, I suggest that you set up camp first and then go to the village to eat. The campground is on that "fairy mountain".
The clouds and fog were so thick that it was impossible to find the ridge.
The clouds dispersed a little, and the "fairy mountain" finally showed its face, and my heart thumped with excitement.
Driving along the dirt road to the "Fairy Mountain", the microclimate of the mountain formed a sea of clouds, and the girl ran forward excitedly.

My tent was pitched on the hillside. Since I came to the mountains, I had to live in a mountain-view room.
This slope is also more like a cliff. A strong wind may cause people to roll down.
After setting up camp, we headed to the village to replenish a hot meal, although we brought skewers. The friend who brought the skewers decided to stay on the mountain and have a barbecue.
The road into the village was very congested, and we took the wrong route in the heavy fog, so it took us almost an hour and a half to arrive.
The clouds and fog on the other side of the mountain were as thick as soldiers pressing down on the area, and a violent storm began.
Brother Chao said that the weather varies ten miles up the mountain, and the weather at the campsite may be different.
We ate at the same farmhouse last year. The boss is a Vietnam War veteran, and you can still see his medals in our circle of friends.
Probably because I often post on Moments, my boss said he was impressed by me and wanted to have a drink with me.

Failure in Tea Mountain, Waterloo of camping career
Afterdinnerat 5 o'clock, we left the village, but met our teammates who were supposed to be waiting for us at the camp.

At that time, I felt cold, and my girlfriend told me at the same time: "Our tent is not closed..."

We drove back to "Fairy Mountain" anxiously. Since the rain hadn't stopped yet, we planned to wait for a while until the rain subsided before checking the equipment...
Brother Chao was so bored that he drew a monkey on the skylight...
I finally couldn't help it, so I put on a 5-yuan raincoat sold at the subway entrance, took my walkie-talkie, and walked to the ridge a few hundred meters away to check the battle damage.
It was windy and rainy, and a thin raincoat made my image look taller.
It was an overwhelming match, and we were the one who was pushed to the ground and rubbed...
The grass on the ground looked like combed oil hair. A strong wind blew and my tent changed from a bun to a steamed bun.
The wind has subsided, and my tent has changed from a steamed bun to a steamed bun, just a soup dumpling...
Looking at other people's equipment, the blue Mu Gaodi fell down completely, the green tent had flown away, and only the tent pegs and broken wind rope were still on the ground.
My girlfriend called me every three seconds on the intercom to confirm my survival. To be honest, I was very scared. The wind was so strong that my ears almost folded forward.
I packed up the water-infested equipment, but I didn’t dare pack up the tent because I was afraid that it would take me down the mountain for a ride.
After a while, other boys came down and began to take stock of the mess. I finally had the courage to put away the tent.
The tent pole is bent... I can't even straighten it with my strength alone...
As a veteran camper, why is my tent in such a mess? In addition to not closing the external account, there are also the following reasons:

When setting up camp, there is a huge stone under the ① position where the tent pegs should be. The nails may not be firmly embedded in the ground, and it is easy for people to accidentally hang on or be kicked away. The depth of the mud at ② is even better. It brings people a sense of security, but the angle between the wind rope and the horizontal direction is too large (β>α), and the wind resistance it can provide (F wind resistance = F2 x cos(β)) is compromised.
There was no dynamometer to quantify it, so after struggling, I chose the one with deep nails ②. Although the nails were not removed in the end, the angle was too large to provide sufficient lateral wind resistance. It was not until the tent was crushed that it collapsed. The wind force reaches equilibrium, and as a side effect, the vertical force component (F2 x sin(β)) is too large, bending the tent pole.
Okay, this ends the loose force analysis .
The tent that flew away belonged to Yang Na. After we came down from the mountain, someone heard her tell our story and asked her if she was in the tent...
Grandpa's redemption
So how did we spend this night?
There is a brick house at the top of the mountain, and in the house there is an old man guarding the mountain. The old man cooks noodles and lights a fire.
We went in to warm up over the fire, and in exchange, we gave the uncle the beef we were going to eat. The uncle’s unpretentious beef instant noodles had real beef...

Eight people spent the night in two cars. With the windows closed, there is no internet at all, and the two cars can only communicate through walkie-talkies.

I don't know how I managed to survive the night. The sky cleared up, but the fatigue weighed down my body and it was extremely uncomfortable.

The wind started to blow again on the mountain, so I launched the drone and flew far away to see the scenery at the end of the "fairy mountain".
This flight almost caused another incident...
I started returning before I reached the return point displayed on the app. When I returned, the plane was more than 1,000 meters away from me. However, the speed in sports mode is only 1m/s. I realized that there may be a big headwind...
I struggled to control it, but to no avail. Not only did the drone show no obvious signs of returning, it also flew uncontrollably to the left.
With only 3 minutes of battery left and my plane still 1,000 meters away, I had to take a gamble.
First, lower the plane into the valley. If the wind is light, you can fly back as far as possible. In the middle, the drone was about to land automatically, but I pressed pause and continued to follow the trend.
The wind in the valley was indeed much lighter. In these three minutes, the plane flew several hundred meters, and then struggled to fly up the hillside with almost the last 1% of the battery. Even if it falls on the hillside, I can still pick it up.
In the end, the drone was quite confident, climbed up the hillside with difficulty, and made an emergency landing on the muddy ground 500 meters away from me, where the car had run over. At this time, the remaining power is 0%.

Once again, we avoided the tragedy of the cost of the trip changing from hundreds to thousands...
Everyone was still scared and wanted to go down the mountain as soon as possible. At the foot of the mountain, there was finally a signal, and we received news from Pengpeng's team.
Pengpeng's team went camping at the beach. Their tents experienced almost the same experience as ours. Some tents were flooded, some collapsed, and some flew away...
We also shared our own experiences, and the atmosphere in the group was enjoyable. Good friends are like this and can always make each other happy.
Looking back, Yifan is innocent, at least Yifan is not a necessary condition for bad weather...
Strategy
If you still want to go after seeing our tragic situation, here are the strategies you need:
The destination is in the direction of Chashan Village in Yu County. The specific location of "Xianshan" is between "Chaifenggou" and "Dishui Cliff"
It is best to drive a four-wheel drive high-chassis vehicle to go there. The road here is narrow and bad, and passability is very important. Four-wheel drive is convenient for driving in the mountains, but please don't run over the grass, just follow the old ruts
When traveling in multiple vehicles, the importance of walkie-talkies cannot be overemphasized, even if the road is on a high speed and there is a mobile phone signal
A good tent with reasonable structure is very important. In harsh environments, don’t expect to use a quick tent to safely spend the night.
