Yesterday I spent a day resting in Gongbujiangda County. This should be the last rest during this hiking trip. Today’s destination is Jinda Town, a total distance of 43 kilometers and 274 kilometers from Lhasa.
On the way today, we passed a place called Taizhao Ancient City. On the map, it was still a scenic spot, so I went in for a walk.
From the introduction at the entrance of the ancient city, I learned that since the Tang Dynasty, this place has been an economic, military, and transportation town with a very important strategic position. What interests me the most is the following introduction about the "Guandi Temple" .
Introduction to Taizhao Ancient City
Although Guan Yu was canonized as a god by Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, in Han culture, he was a perfect practitioner of the Confucian spirit. Therefore, being able to see Guandi Temple in Tibetan areas proves that the culture represented by Guan Yu is recognized by the Tibetan people. In a certain sense, this is a sign of national cultural integration.
When I walked into the ancient city, I found that it was already a dilapidated scene. Although the prosperity of that year can still be vaguely seen from the streets and buildings, the doors of all places are closed and the buildings are empty. After walking around, I still couldn't find the Guandi Temple. Of all the scenic spots on the guide map, only the White Pagoda is still there, and the others have disappeared.
It can be seen that with the development of transportation and urbanization, this ancient city has completely lost its former role. What people today regret is that the meaning and value it should carry can only be found in words on the Internet.
