Introduction to the Wen Tianxiang Memorial Hall: The God of the City God of Dingxi is Wen Tianxiang, the national hero of the Southern Song Dynasty who resisted the Yuan Dynasty. There are two interesting legends about how this famous official of the Southern Song Dynasty became the city god of a small town in the northwest:
One is that Ming general Xu Da in 1370 AD There was a fierce battle with Yuan general Wang Baobao in Dingxi (I remember reading this when I read Mingyue's "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty"). There was a magic soldier who assisted the Ming army in the battle and wiped out the Yuan army overnight. , later people said that this magic weapon was Wen Tianxiang's team. Second, in the fourth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Xu Tietang, a poet and Jinshi from southern Fujian, was appointed by the imperial court as the magistrate of Anding County (now Dingxi) in Gongchang Prefecture. On the way to his appointment, he stayed at an inn and suddenly had a dream at night: Wen Tianxiang invited him to go to Anding County with him. He was also informed that he had also been registered as the City God of Anding County. After Xu Tietang took office, he widely publicized this dream and raised money to expand the City God Temple. From then on, Wen Tianxiang became the incarnation of Dingxi City God and was worshiped by all people.
