Scenic spot introduction:

Xishiku Church, also known as Beitang, is currently one of the largest and oldest churches in Beijing. Located at No. 33 Xishiku Street, it was built in the early Qing Dynasty and was called the "Savior Church" at that time. The original site was at the entrance of Canchikou on the bank of Zhongnanhai Lake. It was opened in 1703. In 1887, it was demolished due to the expansion of Zhongnanhai. Later, the Qing government appropriated 450,000 taels of silver and built it at the Xishiku site inside Xi'an Gate. Xishiku Church has been the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Beijing for a long time. It is a typical Gothic building with four tall spiers, three pointed arch entrances and a circular rose window in the middle of the main span, creating a dignified and elegant atmosphere. The gorgeous facade looks whiter and taller surrounded by green pines and cypresses.
