Scenic spot introduction:

Angkor Wat in Cambodia, also known as Little Angkor Thom, is world-famous for its magnificent architecture and detailed reliefs. It is the largest temple in the world and the best-preserved temple among the Angkor monuments. When people talk about Cambodia, the first thing that comes to mind is Angkor Wat. It seems that it has passed through the long river of time and solidified the history of this ancient kingdom into an eternal scenery, which is enough to make anyone feel in awe. Today, the shape of Angkor Wat has become a national symbol of Cambodia, displayed on the Cambodian flag and a business card of the entire country.

Attractions distribution:

Angkor Wat is located in the northern suburbs of Siem Reap, 5.5 kilometers away from Siem Reap city. What people usually call Angkor Wat generally refers to all Angkor monuments, but in fact Angkor Wat only refers to Angkor Temple, which is part of the Angkor monuments. Angkor Wat faces east to west, with a causeway crossing the moat and surrounded by a laterite stone rectangular wall. In the middle of the front is a 230-meter-long colonnade with three towers in the middle. The road between the West Gate and the Cross King's Terrace is the core passage of the building complex, with the Protector and the Sutra Pavilion on both sides. The core building, Angkor Temple, is in the form of a pyramid, with five pagodas standing on the highest floor, and verandas connecting the towers. In addition, each floor of the Mount Sumeru Vajra Altar is surrounded by corridors, which is a characteristic of Angkor Wat architecture. The reliefs in the temple are very exquisite, and the content is mainly about the legend of the Hindu god Vishnu, based on the Indian epics "Mahabharata" and "Ramayana" and the Hindu myth "Ocean of Milk".

travelling guideline:

1. The best time to visit Angkor Temple is 3.5-4 hours, which can be divided into two times. Among them, you can climb the central tower + see the buildings in the temple + take photos of the reflection of Angkor Temple in front of the pool for 2 hours, visit the reliefs in the peripheral corridors + listen to the tour guide's explanation for 1.5-2 hours.

2. The light in Angkor Temple is good in the afternoon, and the murals on the west side can be seen clearly. There are fewer people visiting Angkor Wat after watching the sunrise, but there is not enough light, which has pros and cons. The lotus pond in front of the temple is one of the best places to watch the sunrise.

3. The west gate of Angkor Temple is currently under repair and covered with green scaffolding. If you want to take complete photos, you can choose to enter through the north gate, which is also very beautiful. The cloister on the first floor is also being repaired due to the fairy protection plan, and the relief sculpture of "Churning the Sea of Milk" can only be partially visited.

4. The third corridor is the best place for high-altitude viewing, but for safety reasons, it can accommodate up to 100 people at the same time, so there is often a long queue. At the same time, according to regulations, queuing usually stops after 4:30 pm, so when visiting Little Angkor, it is best to visit the third corridor first, and then return to the first corridor to take pictures.
