Antananarivo is the capital of Madagascar, an island country in the Indian Ocean, and the largest city in Madagascar. It is located in the central-eastern part of Madagascar Island, about 145 kilometers from the east coast. It means "the city of a thousand warriors" in Malagasy. The architectural layout of the city is a mixed style of Asia, Africa and Europe.
