Scenic spot introduction:

The Ruins of St. Paul's is the remains of the front wall of St. Paul's Church. It has a long history and was built in 1637. It is the most representative landmark in Macau. This church is a blend of the European Renaissance and Oriental architectural styles, reflecting the fusion of Eastern and Western art. The carvings are delicate and majestic. Tourists visiting Macau must go to the Ruins of St. Paul's to take a "visit here" commemorative photo. In recent years, it has become a hot spot for newlyweds to take wedding photos.
More than 400 years ago, the Portuguese invaded Macau and brought Catholicism to Macau. In 1562, after several years, the Portuguese built this church in Macau and named it "St. Paul's Church". The pronunciation of "St. Paul" in Portuguese is close to "Sanba" in the local dialect, so it is also called "Grand Ruins of St. Paul's Church". Later, the church was destroyed by fire twice. A fire in 1835 burned down the church again, leaving only the front wall that cost 30,000 taels of silver, which became today's Grand Ruins of St. Paul's Archway.
