Songmingyan is located in the Taizishan forest area in a small gorge in Diaotan Township, 25 kilometers south of Hezheng County, Linxia Prefecture. It is named because whenever the wind blows, the pine waves roar loudly, like the beating of war drums and galloping horses.
Songmingyan Scenic Area covers an area of 33 square kilometers. South Terrace , Western Top , Dugangling The three peaks standing side by side have peculiar shapes and handsome appearances. As early as the Yuan Dynasty, people dug caves and sculpted Buddhas, built temples, and practiced seclusion here. It is now a place where palaces, towers, pavilions, and flying bridges from past dynasties are gathered.
From April 26th to 29th of the lunar calendar (commonly known as April 8th), local people and tourists from other places come to visit the Songmingyan landscape, sing "Huaer" and hold the annual Songmingyan "Huaer" festival.
