It is the sixth largest caldera in the world, roughly circular in shape, and one of the most intact and largest craters in the world. Africans call it Ngorongoro, which means "big hole". Ngorongoro caldera is like a "big basin" embedded in the Great Rift Valley of East Africa. The crater is a gathering place for wild animals.
