Although Zhaoqing Dinghushan Scenic Area is located on the Tropic of Cancer, it is different from other areas at the same latitude which are mostly deserts or dry grasslands. It has completely preserved the South Asian tropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest with a history of more than 400 years, presenting a beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers. Dinghushan is located 18 kilometers northeast of Zhaoqing city. The mountain is covered with dense forests and rich in springs, which have created many flowing springs and waterfalls in various shapes and sizes. It has become one of the four famous mountains in Lingnan, along with Danxia Mountain, Luofu Mountain and Xiqiao Mountain.Dinghu Mountain has been a famous Buddhist holy place and tourist destination since the Tang Dynasty. In 676 AD, Master Zhichang, a disciple of the eminent monk Huineng, built the Old Tripod Temple on the southwest peak of Dinghu Mountain. How to get there:
There are special buses to Dinghushan from Guangzhou and Zhaoqing city. Take the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing bus at Guangzhou Provincial Bus Station, get off at the Dinghushan Archway on Zhaoqing National Highway 321, and go 2 kilometers to the Dinghushan ticket office.
