The Guangxi Nanning Medicinal Botanical Garden is a professional medicinal botanical garden directly under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Health Department that conducts protection, utilization and development research of medicinal plants. While preserving a large number of medicinal plants, the garden has created distinctive botanical garden landscapes and has the reputation of being a "three-dimensional Compendium of Materia Medica."

The Guangxi Medicinal Botanical Garden is located in the mountains of the eastern suburbs, 8 kilometers away from the urban area of Nanning. The garden was established in 1959 and covers an area of more than 2 million square meters. The garden is full of lush trees, crisscrossing vines, and flowing water. It integrates sightseeing, scientific research, teaching and production. It is one of the 21 large botanical gardens open to the outside world (internationally) in my country, and it is also one of the largest medicinal botanical gardens in my country and Southeast Asia.
As a national base for popular science education of traditional Chinese medicine culture, Guangxi Medicinal Botanical Garden has preserved more than 6,000 varieties of medicinal plants and built 10 functional areas and specialized gardens for medicinal plants. At present, Guangxi Medicinal Botanical Garden is implementing the construction around the construction goals of "one center (medicinal plant protection and research center), two bases (popular science and culture base, Guangxi Chinese herbal medicine industry research and development base), and three platforms (international cooperation and exchange platform, scientific and technological service platform, and achievement transformation platform)". After the completion of the project, the number of living medicinal plants preserved in the garden will reach 8,000, with 3-5 world-class specialized gardens, and basically built into a world-class medicinal plant garden integrating species preservation, scientific research, popular science education, and achievement transformation.
