Scenic spot introduction:
Jesus Hill, formerly known as Corcovado Mountain, is located near Copacabana Beach, the most famous beach in Rio de Janeiro. It is named after the giant statue of Jesus Christ on the hill. Jesus Hill is 2,310 feet high. The statue of Jesus Christ on the hill is 70 meters high, 40 meters wide, and weighs more than 200 tons. It was built to commemorate the success of the Brazilian independence movement. In Rio, it can be seen at any time and anywhere, and is a symbol of Rio. In addition, the mountain is lush with trees and flowers, and the scenery is very beautiful and charming.
In 1922, on the 100th anniversary of Brazil's independence, the Brazilian Catholic Mission and nuns jointly signed a petition requesting President Pessoa to build a statue of Jesus. This statue was carefully designed and sculpted by the famous Brazilian sculptor Val Costa and his companions over a period of five years. The statue is 38 meters tall, with a head nearly 4 meters long and two arms nailed to the cross of suffering stretched out to a width of 28 meters. The entire statue is made of reinforced concrete and weighs more than 1,000 tons. Brazil is a Catholic country, with more than 90% of the country's people believing in Catholicism. In the eyes of believers, this giant statue of Jesus is the incarnation of the "Savior" who dedicated himself to the working people of the world. The statue spreads its arms as if to welcome visitors from all directions and to wish the people peace and prosperity.
