Gongtan Ancient Town has a history of more than 1,700 years. The bluestone streets here are as green as jade, connecting the whole town. The streets are lined with ancient and tall wooden hanging buildings on the cliffs, which are unique to the local area. The ancient town is located in Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County of Chongqing City, on the east bank of the Wujiang River where the Wujiang River and the Apeng River meet, and can be compared with the world cultural heritage - Lijiang Ancient Town.Attractions distribution:
The town has a three-kilometer-long stone street, more than 150 unique fire-proof walls, more than 200 quaint and quiet courtyards, and more than 50 stilt houses of various shapes. It is a well-preserved and large-scale Ming and Qing architectural complex in China. The main stream of the Wujiang River, Gongtan to Wanmu, is more than 60 kilometers long, including the two ancient towns of Gongtan and Qingquan and the first-level tributary of the Wujiang River, the Apeng River, from Gongtan to Dahekou, which can be called the "essence of the Wujiang River Gallery". How to get there:
Gongtan is 400 kilometers away from Chongqing along the secondary road, 250 kilometers away from Chongqing along the Wujiang waterway, and 65 kilometers away from Youyang County.
If you depart from Chongqing, the route is as follows:
Route 1: Tourists can first go to Pengshui, and then take a boat or speedboat from Pengshui to Gongtan. The boat ride takes about 1 hour, and the speedboat takes about
40 minutes. This route allows you to enjoy the picturesque Wujiang Gorge.
Route 2: Tourists take the train to Youyang Railway Station, and then take a bus to Gongtan. The fare is 25 yuan and the journey takes 1.5 hours.
Route 3: Chongqing Caiyuanba Bus Station has buses to Youyang every day, the fare is 135 yuan, and the journey takes 12 hours.
There are many cars (vans) in Gongtan, the journey takes 2 hours and the fare is 20-25 yuan.
Route 5: Visitors can take a long-distance bus from Chongqing to Pengshui at Chaotianmen Transportation Square (Yangzhou Yaxing 71 yuan, Kesboer 85 yuan).
It takes 5.5-6 hours, and you can stay overnight in Pengshui. From Pengshui to Gongtan, there is only one bus every day at 8 am, and the fare is 20 yuan.
Duration: 3.5-4 hours.
Route 4: Chongqing citizens can drive directly to Gongtan Town, Youyang County via Pengshui, or go to Gongtan via Pengshui and Qianjiang.
You can stop and go along this route to enjoy the scenery. However, it takes about 5 hours to get to Gongtan via Pengshui and Qianjiang.
