Scenic spot introduction:

Gangu Daxiang Mountain is named after the cliff elephant, one of the eight scenic spots in Gangu. It is 1,516 meters above sea level and is famous for its scenery, grottoes, ancient buildings and Buddhist activities. The Great Buddha Grottoes are located on Wenqi Mountain at the western end of the Qinling Mountains, 2.5 kilometers southwest of Gangu County. There are pine and cypress trees and lilacs everywhere. In the large cave on the cliff in the mountain, there is a stone-based clay Buddha from the Northern Wei Dynasty. It is one of the important cultural relics in southeastern Gansu on the ancient Silk Road that integrates grottoes and ancient buildings.

Attractions distribution:

The Gangu Elephant Mountain Scenic Area covers an area of about 640 acres and has a total length of 1.5 kilometers. The Buddha statues in the area can be traced back to the Northern Wei Dynasty. It has gone through four dynasties and more than 300 years. Pavilions and towers are built against the mountain, and carved buildings and galleries are shaded by green trees.

How to get there:

Elephant Mountain is located in Gangu County, Tianshui City, 8 kilometers away from the railway station. There are buses directly to Gangu from Tianshui Railway Station, and you can also take the train and get off directly at Gangu Station.
