Qingdao No. 1 Bathing Beach was once the largest bathing beach in Asia. It has a beautiful environment, pleasant climate, flat beach, gentle slope, fine sand and excellent natural conditions. It is a good place for summer vacation and leisure. The scenic area is located on the bank of Huiquan Bay. It has a 580-meter-long and 40-meter-wide beach. It was once a place where local fishermen moored their boats and dried their nets. In order to meet the needs of tourism development, in 1984, the Qingdao Municipal People's Government carried out a large-scale renovation and expansion of the bathing beach. The restored bathing beach has a brand new look, with a construction area of 20,000 square meters.
