Scenic spot introduction:

The Shanghai Chongming Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve is located in the core part of Chongming Dongtan, a low-lying alluvial island on the eastern end of Chongming Island. It covers an area of about 32,600 hectares, accounting for about 7.8% of the total wetland area in Shanghai. The main protected objects are water birds and wetland ecosystems. Under the siltation of the Yangtze River, large areas of freshwater to brackish water swamps, tidal gullies and intertidal flats have been formed.
