The Hukou Waterfall has surging water, deafening roar and magnificent scenery. It is the most spectacular section of the Yellow River and a rare waterfall wonder both at home and abroad. Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River The scenic spot is located in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, in the middle section of the Shanxi-Shaanxi Grand Canyon, with a total area of about 60 square kilometers. It is a famous scenic spot shared by Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces. The Yellow River here has steep cliffs on both sides and the river mouth is narrow like a pot mouth, so it is named Hukou Waterfall.Hukou Waterfall is located between Shanxi and Shaanxi. Before the waterfall, the riverbed of the Yellow River was several thousand meters wide. But here, the rocks on both sides of the river suddenly shrink, forming a narrow groove that is ten thousand meters long. Moreover, a deep valley with a very steep drop is formed below the groove. Therefore, the water flowing from the sky converges here and pours into the canyon, and the momentum is like a landslide.
Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China after Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province, and the largest yellow waterfall in the world. To experience its magnificence, you must be there in person. Hukou Waterfall is the back pattern of the 50-yuan banknote of the fourth set of RMB. Ke Shouliang also drove a sports car here and flew over the Yellow River.

Tour: There are villagers from northern Shaanxi in the scenic area, leading donkeys and waiting for tourists to take pictures. It only costs a few yuan to take a photo.
Hukou Waterfall is divided into scenic areas on both sides of Shanxi and Shaanxi, where you can view the waterfall and charge admission fees for each side. They are connected by the Hukou Bridge of the Yellow River. There is a waterfall viewing cave on the Shanxi side, where you can view the waterfall up close.
Accommodation: Near Hukou Scenic Area, famous hotels include Hukou Waterfall Hotel, Hukou Hotel, Yellow River Hukou Shengyuan Hotel and Grain Hotel. Farmhouse hotels near the scenic area are good, cheap, and very close to the waterfall.

How to get there:
Getting There:
1. There is a special bus from Xi'an to Hukou at Xi'an Chengdong Bus Station, which runs at 8:00 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. every day, arriving at Hukou Scenic Area at around 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively. There will be a 10-30 minute break in Yichuan County to leave time for passengers to eat and drink.
2. Take the Yan'an to Hukou tourist bus from the Baota District South Bus Station in Yan'an. There is one bus every day at 7:30 a.m., 8:20 a.m., and 3:30 p.m., and return at 12:00 noon, 2:00 p.m., and 7:30 a.m. the next day.
Self-driving route:
1. Take the Baomao Expressway from the Xi'an Weiyang North Expressway entrance, exit from Taiyuan/Lanzhou near Luochuan, enter the Qinglan Expressway towards Linfen/Taiyuan, exit at Hukou Exit, enter National Highway 309 and drive about 4.6 kilometers to reach the main scenic area. The entire journey is about 300 kilometers and takes 3 hours and 40 minutes. There are clear road signs along the way. There are service stations such as Tongchuan, Yijun, Huangling, Luochuan, and Hukou that provide refueling, catering and other services.
2. You can take the Yanhu tourist line directly to Hukou, the whole journey is 124 kilometers, the speed limit is 60 kilometers, and the road condition is good. The Yanhu Highway starts about 5 kilometers south of Yan'an, and turns right at the intersection to Yangou. There are road signs indicating the direction of Hukou. The road signs are clear along the way, and there are large villages and towns that provide gas, catering, shopping and other services.
